Which Cylinders?

3's or 5's... Heisers? Fabers? Roths?

I have a couple of 3L steel Fabers, longer and narrower than the Heisers (I think) that I've seen people use, any reason these won't work when I get my beastie? As many know I am a tight git and don't want to spend more than I have to Probably need to swap a valve for a left handed one though.

I use 3 litre Fabers on my classic, main of dumpies and and a spare set of talls.

Prefer the dumpies as they sit level with the unit.

The talls look like rocket launchers!

No experience of Heisers or Roths.

I use both 3 and 2 litre Fabers on my Meg and find them well balanced, also I need about 4 kilos less than with Alis.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

I've got a Heisler and a Faber on my classic. Both stick up and help with tim by moving a bit of weight towards my head. CBA weighing them, as it works, and was a simpler solution to buying more tanks. Both are identical in diameter, but the ends are slightly different, with the Heisler being more rounded. I'd say just use the Fabers, as long as they hold gas... but you'll need to get a LH (or RH, depending on your point of view) valve for the O2 cylinder.

I use 6li steels (heisers IIRC). Ex-fire brigade, so come with inverted-ready valves. Trim is spot-on from the word go (Inspo).

(This has two advantages over the standard 3li Inspo tins. 1) Lots of bailout. 2) I've swapped some lead for some more gas.)

Are these the taper thread valve bottles? Any problems with the PTFE tape seals on the neck? The ones I've had it was always hard enough stopping air from leaking never mind helium.

I can get these fairly cheap, including 3's but I'd never really thought of using them. Quite a few I've had never made it past test... so I just stopped testing them

One (tapered Drager) does gently bubble from round the neck...

The rest are fine. M18 I think, non-tapered...

It's the island resort version of a contents gauge. If it stops bubbling, you're out of air!!

Stuart,

I have tried almost everything from 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7L steel and aluminum tanks on the Classic-KISS. However, I assume you will be using the Sport-KISS ?

For the SK, I have tried the same 2L and 3L steel tanks.

The 2L steel tanks are the German-version with tapered thread - which you should be able to get for next to nothing as they are in abundant in Germany (if you have a friend there). The 3L steel tanks are the Inspiration tanks.

I wouldn't put anything larger like 5L (or God-forbid, 7L) on the SK since the unit is already wide (but only 4" flat).

Just got back from Sharm where Aaron is using 1.5L aluminum tanks (APV Argon tanks) for all of his diving on the unit in warmwater.

How well do the 3L work on the SK?
