Classic KISS ADV

I am having real problems with my ADV sticking on. I have changed the old distorted diaphram, made sure that the allen screws arent too tight, as I have found out that this seems to distort the diaphram causing leaks. I do not know what more to do, any ideas?

John have checked the valve seat? You have an older unit & if this is the original valve stem it could very well be the problem. The good news is they now make a better one, $30 I think. I would replace the old style at any rate as they were a bit prone to seat problems.

Re: Classic KISS ADV

Depends on which version it is.....

Common to both;

Check your IP
Possibly open up the screw holes in the diaphragm a bit

old style O ring. Check its glued all around
new style cone. Check its clean.

/Zak

ps. how are the loop hoses?

Re: Classic KISS ADV

I think the next thing is to take out and inspect the valve stem. are the new ones a lot better, or is it just the age of mine?

The new ones are better. A one piece top as opposed to the old style that had a o-ring glued on. As Zak stated they sometimes needed the o-ring reglued.

Question Re: Classic KISS ADV

I have an older?? unit 051 which is sticking on (the ADV that is), and was advised by the guy in the Jestsam stand in Nov at the UK brum dive show to replace the valve stem assembly?? My Diaphragm is defo kidney mishaped and I'm planning on ordering spares from Jetsam. I'm keen to not have to place two orders after finding the forst order didn't fix my ADV problem, which is, I turn on the DIL and the ADV fires continually. I'mm booked on a course in March and don't want to have problems with the kit before the course starts. What would you suggest buying to fix my problem/ I have a parts list from the Jetsam website so I short list would be great so I can order everything I need in one go.

i.e. If I order a new Valve Stem do I need a new Valve body as well? (as they go together and the Stem requires a new Body?? perhaps??)

Looking at the order form, if I pay by Credit Card it looks like it will take a month?? for the spares to be posted to allow for the money to hit their account. Is this right? I'd heard Jetsam is great for Customer service. What are the time frames for oders to UK, and what is the best/quickest form to pay?

cheers,

Dave C

If it was me i would order a new diaphram and stick a new o-ring on the old stem, as its easy to do.

Cheers Mark,

I got a copy of the DVD from my instructor which shows Gordon replacing the Oring. I guess the Crazy glue they use in Canada is Super Glue right? John Duncan has kindley said he may have a spare I could buy from him. I could do with ordering some spare in the long term anyway, plus I need to know how the ordering goes for future peice of mind.

When I get together an order I'll post again on here so others can add to it if they need anything.

Good tip, I'll check that too.

Thanks,
