increase in ppo2 Now this is the second time that this has happened to me on a dive. After getting down the shot and checking out my po2, the digits were increasing alarmingly. did dill flush, but the po2 just kept increasing, so turned off the o2 from the cylinder, dill flushed again po2 came down. So turned the cylinder back on,and all was working ok for the rest of the dive. After the fist time this happened I stripped the o2 add valve down and put in ultra sonic cleaner, changed the O rings re greased, and all seemed ok, till yesterday. Any suggestions greatfuly received

Re: increase in ppo2 is the first stage "blanking plug" leaking? did you grease inside the add valve too much/not enough? (o-ring sticking) do you jump with too high po2 in the loop? HTH Dave

| Re: increase in ppo2 Does the O2 flow correspond to the IP? If not the orifice could be partially clogged, and the IP set high to compensate, then if a clogging particle moves you'd get higher flow. It would account for the erratic behaviour. Blanking plate leaking should continue to give higher flow, at least until you ascend. Neil

Re: increase in ppo2 Ive checked the interstage pressure and it hasnt changed from when I first set it. When I jump in I set po2 at .6, and keep an eye on it all the way down the shot, and adjust accordingly when at the bottom. That is when I first notice the didgits racing upwards, on the bottom. After I stripped and cleaned the add valve I lightly lubricated the O rings before reassembling, just a light coating. I dont think its the blanking plug leaking because wouldnt it continually be increasing, and not,as it does,go back to normal after I turn cyl valve off then back on? Perhaps I will strip add valve down again and take a closer look at the componant parts. J.L.

Re: increase in ppo2 John I had this problem too blanking plug leaked half way down po2 went through the roof closed tank and flushed, this lowered the IP and "reseated the plug o-ring by this time I was static on the bottom turned tank back on and all was ok my solution was to fit a slightly thicker o-ring HTH Dave edit I should have said I wasnt very deep, if I had have been the IP would have still been too high after turning the tank back on Last edited by dave t : 15th May 2006 at 20:49.
