Manually injecting diluent

Hello,

I do not own a KISS so my question might be a little bit dumb:
How do you manually inject diluent? Do yo have to switch the DSV to OC, breathe and then switch back to CC?

My rebreather (rEvo1) does have a push button to inject diluent and no ADV, this is why I ask this question.

Why would you want to manually inject Dil? The KISS has an ADV

Because you have injected to much O2 for example?

Exhale through you nose inhale through the ADV, Repeat as required. I have used the OC DSV switch but unless you switch really fast you get a bit of water in during the change over. It is also useful if your display get a little wonkey to check them on dil

This solution appears to be smarter than switching to/from OC with the DSV.

So, one more question: is it possible to switch off the ADV? I guess no as there is no easy way to inject diluent without it.

If you want to "switch off" the ADV on a Classic KISS you remove the short LP hose on the top of the KISS and plug the holes with a normal regulator LP plugs.

Then your only way of adding diluent would be to breathe from the OC regulator in the DSV and exhale inte the loop. This is working (I´ve been forced to try it) but it adds a couple of extra steps.

You can also connect a manual button (inflator type or custom made) to the diluent inlet on the top of the KISS and remove the valve stem inside the ADV for manual diluent adding. I´ve tried this too, but I think the ADV is the best and easiest way to go.

On the SK, you could also simply reach back and press the ADV button to manually add diluent (for diluent flush, for example).

On the CK (as well as SK), you could learn to manuever the body position to activate the ADV hand-free as well.

I am surprised that your rEVO "instructor" didn't teach you to breath out the nose to activate the ADV to lower the PO2...

I don't have any ADV on my reb, all is done manually.

This is why I ask such questions.

search your manual diluent injet valve
Exale from the nose
and inject some diluent manually,
like manual diluent flush skill
