Wings for the KISS

Just a quick note to say that we now have the Agir-Brokk wings available here in the UK. Along with the range of Agir plates.

Seems to be a popular choice for KISS users.

Also we have the Deep Sea Supply Kydex lightweight plates arriving next week.

Just in case anyone was looking for a wing

Cheers

Some of your illustrious fellow KISS users on this very board.

You have a different opinion ? Please share it, I for one would be glad to know what options were available.

Why ? You don't even dive a Rebreather much less a KISS.

I'm not looking for a fight here.

I was advised to make the users of the board aware that these products were available from us, as we are entitled to do as a board sponsor.

Off back to the sidelines.

Re: Wings for the KISS

Hi there,

I'm not an expert on the CK (unless you count the Pyle definition ) with about 20 hours on the unit in total. But I have an AGIR 38lb wing which I bought secondhand from someone else on another KISS user's strong recomendation.

It fits better than the DiveRite Recwing that I have. The Agir wing is shorter, so doesn't stick out below the Counterlung Case. It is more rectangular than the Recwing, in that the bottom of the wing is the same width as the top, wheras the Dive Rite is a little "trapezoidal". Also the top of the wing is quite small, so it doesn't interfer with the hoses.

I think Phill's post is my fault, as I saw on another board that Diving Niknaks had announced they were stocking Agir. I PM'ed Phill to suggest that he mentions it here, as he is a sponsor of the board, and not being a CK diver, I didn't think he realised that the wings fit the unit so well.

I didn't realise it would be this controversial.

Janos

PS - I have no relation to Diving Niknaks, except that he has supported my alvo when one or two little things went wrong with it a few months ago. This was FOC, despite me buying it from someone else at a time before Phill had taken over the UK dealership.

Re: Wings for the KISS

Phill,

First off, let me apologize as I could have approached the subject more diplomatically.

I wasn't aware what Janos had informed you about his experience, thus when I first read that you mentioned the wing is a popular choice for the KISS unit, I interpreted it more of a self-serving sublimal advertising message since I only know of 1-2 people using the brand, and you are not a KISS diver.

We have had many discussions about wings on the KISS list in the past, so I have a good idea of what type of wings the KISS divers are using. But I guess it could have changed as well recently...

Anyway, I think I am just been defensive lately since I have read too many "recommendations" from non-Rebreather divers...

Re: Wings for the KISS

Hi,

Apology not required, but gracefully given and so accepted.

I'm here to attempt to do for Rebreather divers what we have done in the OC world, to try to give quality products at affordable prices.

I will be the first to admit to knowing little about the Rebreather world. Hence why I'm here, if I'm going to learn it will be here and no where else IMHO.

Not only Janos mentioned the Agir wing, so thats why I decided to put the post up. It was a selling attempt I freely admit, thats what we do.

What is the majority wing out there then ? And in an effort to educate me, why ?

indeed

Some use the oxycheq 40# wing designed for the classic KISS. As noted above the DiveRite Rec wing is used by some. Some people use single cylinder wings like the oxycheq 45# or the Halcyon 40# wing.

For me the issues with a wing for the classic KISS are that the wing should be short enough that it not extend below the bottom of the Rebreather and not get in the way of the hoses at the top. After that, IMO, it's the normal stuff -- enough bouyancy, streamlining, avoidance of air trapping, robustness.

In haven't found the perfect wing yet. This is the first I have heard of the Agir.

Re: Wings for the KISS

Agir is a well known brand over here in Europe, and particularly amongst the DIR OC community.

You can get them over in the States, Barry Miller at Salvo Diving has them in stock.

Very high quality kit.

When you say the Halcyon 40lb wing, do you mean the Eclipse ? Interested because I would have thought that was a "long" wing and may have interfered top and bottom, knowing it's shape.

Cheers for the response.
