Knew that 3 year electronics degree would come in handy for something... 3 years studying electronics, I now play with planes, and the only thing I use my "formal" training for, is fixing / making electronics for dive gear... Let me know when you're gonna bring it round, and I'll plan to stay sober enough to make the connector for ya... ![]() |

You remove the back of the two adjoining units and then tap. The back of the displays interlock so that they cannot be separated unless the backs are removed. Just remve the 4 screws and lift the back off. Put the rotary switch to the "Calibrate" so you are not trying to pull a vacuum in the display as you pull it apart. I tapped with the handle of a heavy screwdriver. DO NOT try to take a display off without removing the back... you'll either fail to do anythinhg or will break at least one display (and maybe two). You can remove the display without cutting wires by using a jewelers screwdriver to push the little lock on the MOLEX connector which attaches the wires to the sensors and then removing the wires/pins from the connector plug. Then you can loosen the nut on the gland and then pull the cable right thru the bulkhead connector. A new Fisher cable will slip right thru the same bulkhead connector. The display and VR-3 cable can be interchanged in less than 5 minutes.... so Option #1 works fine and you can carry the spare display and replace the VR-3 with it on the spot if needed. All you need is a VR-3 cable *with MOLEX pins soldered to the wires* and you are in business. Dave Sutton

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: KISS and integrated VR3 I am wondering if anybody has come up with a 4 connector sensor pod cover for the Sk, or a new kidney for the Classic? That would solve the problem If somebody is going to make one I think the Sk should be first Thanks Kevin Last edited by kevin stone : 10th December 2006 at 14:49. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You could try the complete Shearwater Solution. A Shearwater computer with three displays, deco and new Kidney. |

There are instructions (with photos) in the new Classic manual, which can be downloaded from the Jetsam site. (And presumably the sports but I haven't checked)Janos

![]() ![]() | Re: KISS and integrated VR3 There is also option #5! A new display from Subsea Systems (Subsea Systems - Rebreather Solutions) which incorporates the three po2 read outs on one display. Plus adds the VR3 cable to allow real time deco computing. For a bonus a hud; which can be set to the desired PO2 reading. It is a reasonable alternate at a fair price. ![]() |

I waffle. AB - I'm looking at similar questions, as I have one display which has a nice conformal coating all through the adjustment bit/thingy. It means I have to do more math while diving to see what cell #2 is really reading. What I'm tempted to do is go for option #6, which is one of Jason's kidneys with display and HUD, but also a connector so I can plumb in a Shearwater later, when my bank balance recovers.

I am looking at getting a shearwater early in the new year so just wondering what are the advantages of going jason's meters and pluming a shearwater in later, over just the shearwater. Mark
