Has he indeed tried a KISS BOV and found it way too cumbersome? I find my mouthpiece needs to be set at 'just' the right angle, or it will pull up or down. As long as it sits in the 'mamma bear' position, it puts no stress on my mouth or jaw. It may be, in the heat opf the moment, it will be a non issue. Possibly the easiest idea is to just get a sporty, and go diving. If the BOV is a PITA, swap it out for something else. Maybe that new fandangled one based on the original inspo mouthpiece? As for altering the existing KISS BOV... have I been reading about us divers being naughty when we alter things from manufacturer specs? ![]()

I do NOT recommed simply pluging the hole where the 2nd stage goes. If you take the BOV off...take it off entirely and use a simple DSV from another system. If you do...you need some other form of bailout (an air 2 or something similar).would you not end up with lots of water in the loop doing this? you would end up doing that a lot don't think i like the idea of that will you still not end up with water in the DSV? suppose you could always swallow the water ![]() Aloha, Charlie

If you get a cocktail it will probably be in the mouthpiece too (tastes like concrete going off)- the last thing you'll want is to keep the BOV in!The cocktail is one failure you're best off bailing out properly on IMO. |

Use that hole to blow water thru befgore opening the DSV to the loop. Piece of cake. Dave |

They'll only become available if people know about them and ask for them. I think it's an excellent tool - it almost makes the KISS as good as a Vision (except for all the other good bits that are missing ).You a snob, no, heaven forfend. No-one would ever think that.....

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Removing The (BOV) From The Kiss Sport (permanently) Step one, adding a blanking plate, is declared to be no problem. Step two, allowing the mouthpiece to be purged, by just drilling a 1/8 hole in the bottom of the blanking plate, has been revealed also as no problem. Step four, a bailout system will be required. Now Step three (the final step in declaring ChettL's question as possible): Is there anyplace in a Kiss Sport's loop to install a manual Dil-add valve? That is, a more convenient location than having to reach back behind one's neck. In systems with over-the-shoulder counterlungs, one would add it there. But where in the Kiss could it be added? |
