| Born Again Diver! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Sport Kiss - Classic Kiss - Crossover Necessary? Now I am moving to somewhere I can do some diving without getting on a plane, I am thinking of changing to a Kiss Classic. I know the controls / diving it should be the same, but does it merit me having to do a crossover? (And I suppose paying for it?) On my card, it specifically says Sport Kiss, so I would wonder would this cover me insurance wise to dive a classic? I'm doing my Normoxic course at the end of the month, so I am thinking of doing the course on a Classic if possible, which opens me up for some deeper diving in the future. Anyone have thoughts on it? Dave

Yes....I guess the Dive Police and training agencies will manage to come up with an excellent reason for reliving you of a big wedge of beer tokens to do a crossover....especially if your unit is a differnt colour as well...heaven forbid!! ![]()

There are a few differences but they are mainly mechanical, once you are in the water and trimmed right the operation is no different. If you are in the south of UK and you buy me breakfast I will do the crossover for you for FREE! Dave |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Sport Kiss - Classic Kiss - Crossover Necessary? Hello, It may depend on which agency you certified under. My C-card says "KISS Rebreather" without a designation of which version. I'm informed it was good for both. On the other hand, I also dived both during my training. You may want to get your next training through an agency which doesn't differentiate between the versions. Sincerely, -p

Thanks for the offer Dave, the closest I will be to the south UK for now is the South China Sea, and I'm sure you'd hate to have to splash in there! If you are in the south of UK and you buy me breakfast I will do the crossover for you for FREE! Dave I will try and do the normix on the Classic, or both. I'd just hate to have the nazis pick up on a slightly differnt card. Thanks for all the replies Dave

| Born Again Diver! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Sport Kiss - Classic Kiss - Crossover Necessary? I got down to Puerto Galera and did the Normoxic on a Classic Kiss, after doing a few dives to get used to it. This one had a SubSea display and HUD, which I rather liked, and carbon fibre wrapped tanks. My instructor, Paul Nielsen from Hong Kong mentioned before the course that he was keen on good trim and weighting, and on the first dive, I proceeded to removed 5 kg from my weight pouches until I ran out of lead, and it was just about spot on! - It is a long time since I have had theo pportunity to learn so much more about diving - and the free beer and rum in the evenings helped reinforce the days work. I rather liked the Classic, and I am sorely tempted to get one, but not 100% sure whether to go for a new one or a 2nd hand one. The only drawback over the SK is that it is not as easily portable, but as I am moving to Singapore, that is going to be less of an issue. My wife also just got certified on the SK, and got plenty of dives in over and around the course, and when we got back her SK had finally arrived, so from now on we are both going to be bubble free (ish) Dave

![]() ![]() | Re: Sport Kiss - Classic Kiss - Crossover Necessary? Wow - that's the first I heard of having a card that specifies which KISS unit. I guess we learn something every day. I have a TDI Mod 1 card that says "KISS Air diluent diver" and its good for both. Then I got an IANTD cert for mod 2 that also appears to be unit independent. I heard IANTD mod 2 was supposed to be non-specific and just say "rebreather diver", but mine does specifically say "Normoxic Trimix KISS rebreather diver". My buddy bought a Sport and then switched to a Classic for Mod 2. No crossover and no problems.
