Re: Mares BOV Reg changed?

I ordered a Proton on Ebay a while back and got sent a prestige. I have teh order form to get an adaptor, but just haven't got round to sending it in. The mod I thought looked best was the Oceanic Omega one in the library, as that is a half decent reg, and is pretty small. Perhaps a Dacor Viper woudl be good also?

Other than the usual problems with the proton I changed to a dacor viper. It pops straight in after you cut of the ridge for the rubber mouthpiece.

I can't help thinking that Jetsam needs to give the DSV some attention rather than just finding different regs to stick on the front. It was a solution that worked at the time but it's been what, 8 or 9 years (or more?) and really needs something that looks, feels and performs like an integrated unit with some decent guts in it.

Totally agree on this. Also the lead counterweights, the tanks clamps and the ppO2 displays casing should be also revised.

If you cut off the ridge is there still something for the retainer to grab a hold of?
I like the idea of the Viper because it can be flipped left or right and that can shorten up some hoses.
Thanks

Re: Mares BOV Reg changed?

there is plenty of meat on the dacor body to file a groove and use the original tab that used to hold the mares.

They have replaced the lead counterweights with SS rings now.

Number 2 - I replaced the tank clamps with some I chopped off an old piece of kit.

Totally agreed on (3) though!

I'm kinda hoping the AP BOV appears soon, because that will certainly fit and has some serious performance claims.
AP had a BOV on display at Innerspace, and claimed to be shipping them shortly IIRC.

Re: Mares BOV Reg changed?

I bought the new prestige from Jetsam and took it out last weekend. Only went to 120ft (40m), but switched back and forth at depth and was pleased with performance. My only complaint is that it sticks out farther than the proton I was using originally, which is a problem for someone like me shooting a camera. Anyone want to buy a slightly used Prestige BOV with the adapter for a reasonable price?
