![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subsea Display and HUD arrived: Review Just received for the SK, to replace the POS leaking originals. I think the proper word to describe this bit of kit is "Exquisite". Build quality is superb, functionality the same. I'd already had the same pendant on my Mark-15 as it's secondary, but had not seen the HUD or the rest of the upgrade kit. It's just excellent... beyond my expectations. Easy upgrade path to add a cable for the VR-3 as well. It does all that I could ask and will transform the rig from an unreliable toy to a serious travel rig. Compared to the Delta-P URM system it's far cleaner. No choice between the two. This really ought to be the Jetsam OEM factory provided system: Sad that it is not. Anyone wanting to upgrade to this for either SK or CK ought to buy with confidence. Thanks Jason!! Dave .

I have had it on my classic for just over a year and love it. I've gone from tiptoing around with the original displays to a robust setup (I still treat it like eggs) that I added a Shearwater to. Now it has: Primary display with deco Secondary display on my other arm HUD, run from the secondary. It's fully redundant, and a joy to dive. cheers Andy

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Subsea Display and HUD arrived: Review Just received for the SK, to replace the POS leaking originals. Hi Dave, Could you elaborate why you think it's cleaner then the URM (which is what I am diving)? On my Classic KISS, the core module is mounted agains the base of narked@90-stand where it sits nicely protected. The cables run up via the counterlung case which makes it quite tidy (I admit I was struggling initially a little with ideal setup). Easy upgrade path to add a cable for the VR-3 as well. Compared to the Delta-P URM system it's far cleaner. No choice between the two. This really ought to be the Jetsam OEM factory provided system: Sad that it is not. Dave . Just curious about your reasoning behind your statement as I think it's a superb piece of kit (apart from $$). Cheers, marc

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Subsea Display and HUD arrived: Review Dave... How are you running the sensor cables on your rig? Patty Three cables eminate from the interface block, each with it's own new strain relief and Molex connector for the cells. Unscrew the three existing strain reliefs from the cell holder spool, withdraw the old cables, screw the new ones in and connect the sensors. Done! The interface block has three Lumberg females installed: One for the DS-1 display, one for the HUD, and a third to run a cable to any of the computers that accept a cell input. The entire swap over takes... 5 minutes? Tools needed... one end wrench. Superb stuff. To answer the other question posed by Marc in this single reply: The actual DS-1 display is smaller and nicer than the "recycled VR-3 case" used in the URM, the system is fully modular and is plug and play with/without HUD, with/without computer, can interface with any computer, and the software drivers to program the HUD are very easy to access (The DS-1 display drives the HUD and HUD programming is done thru the calibration port of the DS-1). The system all in all just feels more "engineered" than the URM. I'd be happy with either but given the choice I'd go with the Subsea (as I did, actually!) Dave .

| CK#69 Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Subsea Display and HUD arrived: Review My 2cents on the urm: Solidly made If you like vr3 you'll prob like it But: HUD has no independence from vr3 so if you dont buy the secondary display you have nothing to cross check. Annoying habit of turning itself off during prebreathe. Hud only says po2 relative to setpoint so on mccr need to keep fiddling with it on ascent/descent or just ignore HUD. No auto setpoint switch based on depth. HUD quite indistinct as only green/flashing green ever. Red led would IMHO be better used for po2 alerts rather than deco. Screensaver displays all 3 sensor readings but main screen shows only average. Ppo2 readings quite slow to change. Calibration 'ritual' bizarre and usually failed to calibrate for no discernable reason! |

With the sensor cables at 60cm, and the single DS1 cable at about 80cm...that's 2x the cable length of the original Jetsam. I like to keep things tidy (a carry-over from my DIR days), and am interested in how others are stowing the extra cabling.Superb stuff. Dave . How are you setting yours up? |
