Trim weight on SK

I've been thru the archives with this question, and it seems that people are managing this problem with a variety of solutions, the simplest being ankle weight on top of the tanks.

How are you securing them around the tank so they don't slide off?

Right now, I've got a weight pocket on one of the hose clamps around the tan, but want to move the weight up (another clamp). It's just looking a bit messy.

It seems to be a common issue in search of a solution. Any creative fabricators out there? I've got ideas, but no skills/tools......

Re: Trim weight on SK

I have had 3l dumpies, then long 3l and now 1,5l Ali. and never needed weights. Moving the tanks high withing the clips has been enough. Maybe it has something to do with having a backplate that allows moving the SK up a bit in its entirity. If you have the extra holes it might be worth a try. It made a helluva difference to static WOB in the upright position as well.

Re: Trim weight on SK

take 2 strips of weight belt material, maybe 25cm long. Stitch them together so they look like an X. Put a weight on top (which would be the bottom) of the tank, then put the X over it, then clamp the ends of the X to the tank with a hose clamp. The clamp is completely secure, and the straps hold the weight firmly to the tank. Cheap, easy, effective, bombproof.

Re: Trim weight on SK

I usually just cable tie a couple of 2 lb weights to the backplate. Saying that, my trim isn't the best, but it matches the WOB sweet spot

How do you keep them from slipping off?

They are pinched between the case and the tank, between that and the elastic in the ankle weights they don't move at all

Re: Trim weight on SK

I use a DSS backplate that weighs 14+ lbs. I've heard of other people using doubled up backplates. This is enough for me with 13's, and is OK with 19's, but I start to get a little butt-heavy once I've done a few dives on the 19's.

So, I don't use any trim on the tanks; I hate having yet another thing to remember.
