Classic KISS weight

Can anybody help me with the weight of the Ck without the counterlung case?
I am trying to see how light I make the classic if I use a Tech Blue setup.
This 35lb weight restriction is a bitch!
thanks in advance

The standard ali box is only 2.0kg so its hardly worth the effort. The back plate is the pig at 2.3kg but you could use a plastic one or even hire the BP and wing from the dive shop.

Better still wear it on to the plane

I take coats with large pockets these days. Shearwater display cable an cell holder and first stages go in the pockets along with my battery pack for the canister torch. BOV and loop go in hand luggage. All thats left is plenty light enough at around 20lb.c I also baught an ultra light dry suit thats a smidge over 2Kg. I am considering getting a weezle undersuit for travel as its much lighter than the Thinsualte i normaly use.

I presume you are worried about weight since you are flying somewhere? I packed my CK in my carry-on bag last trip. There are no weight restrictions for carry-on bags. I just happened to have a roller bag that it fit into, but any soft bag would work just as well. My carry on weighed over 65 pounds since I took lead and much more gear. I will post a picture later if I can manage it.

I removed the swagelok elbow off of the head and the manifold off of the case as well for fear of breaking it off. I also felt much better knowing that the luggage monkeys were not throwing my gear around under the plane.

Re: Classic KISS weight

For my trip to Catalina last month my carry-on was roughly 80lbs.

I had my KISS regs, 12lbs lead, Backplate, Bailout regs, can light and battery, spare light, and a bunch of other stuff.

Kiss was checked. My 2 checked bags were 45 and 50lbs.

Has Continental actually enforced the weight restriction? TSA doesn't care and as long as a flight attendant doesn't have to lift it, how would they know what it weighs?

Re: Classic KISS weight

I cant speak about Continental but I took a flight in Dec and they weight the carryon. Got socked with a $125 extra bag charge. If you are lucky enough to get away with it great but be prepared to pay. They are trying to find income sources anyway possible.

You think that sucks. In the UK on 90% of airlines were limited to 5Kg for carry on luggage. EasyJet is the only one with no weight policy.

Most cheep flights now limit to a single 15Kg or 20Kg bag for hold luggage and a single 5kg piece of hand luggage.

I am thinking Carbon fiber is the way forward with CCR
