| Eliot Danner Current Rebreather/s: | Cable Gland Thread Does anyone know what the thread on the black plastic cable gland for the triple displays is? ...I suppose I should also ask how I go about getting a hole drilled and tapped for this too...I am guessing a machine shop?

The cables may be passed thru the glands if the Molex pins are removed from the Molex shell, and reassembled after the cable is passed thru the gland. Glands were about $5.00 last time I looked. They are semi-disposable. Dave .

Does anyone know where I can buy a tool to properly tighten the Gland securely into the Kiss Classic kidney? Needle nose plier only get you so far! There is not much clearance around the hole into the kidney and of course the wire gets in the way of using a socket. John |

![]() | Re: Cable Gland Thread Sorry for the hijack but at least in the same vein. I managed to get mine tight enough with small needle nose pliers wrapped in tape to prevent them damging the gland as it needed a really tight grip. It wasn't ideal though.Does anyone know where I can buy a tool to properly tighten the Gland securely into the Kiss Classic kidney? Needle nose plier only get you so far! John You cut a slot in a deep socket so it fits over the gland, while allowing the wire to come thru the slot. The slot is made with an end mill and a milling machine and it starts at the end of the socket and comes up the side almost to the other end. OR You pull the pins from the Molex connector (unlatch them with a jewelers screwdriver thru the slot on the side), loosen (remove) the nut on the gland, and slide the wire right out of the gland body. Tighten with a thin wall socket and then reinstall the cable, and lastly push the pins back into the Molex connector. Tighten away! Dave .

I was thinking about the deep socket but need to find someone that can cut the slot. Unfotunately, I do not have the tools to do it and don't know anyone that does.OR You pull the pins from the Molex connector (unlatch them with a jewelers screwdriver thru the slot on the side), loosen (remove) the nut on the gland, and slide the wire right out of the gland body. If I remember correctly the wire has a plastic piece like a ferrel that has spiral slits across its diameter so that as you tighten the nut it tightens around the wire. So I am not sure how the wire could be reinserted into this ferrel after the nut is tightened. The first choice would be the socket with the slot. Thanks for the suggestions. John |

Pay attention while driving around town, and the next time you notice a Snap-On truck parked at the local car dealership stop and ask the driver if he/she has one you can look at. They are usually more than happy to get you on their trucks as they are filled with expensive toys. I checked Craftsman, and they don't have them. Oxygen sensor sockets also have a slot, but they are typically pretty large.John |
