Shipping Crates/Cases

My new Kiss Classic should be arriving in a very few days, and I am assembling all the bits that need to go with it. One thing I want is a robust shipping case. I am wondering is what sort of crate - Pelican, Storm, what have you - you CK owners are using for air freighting your units. Mine will have a Narked @ 90 stand on the bottom.

Any advice?

Thanks

Congrats on your new Kiss Classic, I'm looking at cases also to carry it around in. I bet you can't wait for it to arrive!

Re: Shipping Crates/Cases

Well, I don't take my training until May, so I am going to build a shrine to it in my basement.

But I'm pretty excited.

Re: Shipping Crates/Cases

KISS Classic, no cylinders, no lime, no display (use Pursuit, in carry on), Golem 35 lb wing, generic ss backplate, one piece harness w/the usual d-rings, ss buckle etc.. "slightly wet", in a Storm 2750 case-no foam (as recommended by Kim) flying from Maui to Canada =69.5 lbs at check in, worked out perfect

Re: Shipping Crates/Cases

Congratulations on your purchase! May sounds like a long wait! I only had to go about a month between my units arrival and training, and that was tough to take!

I picked up a cheap plastic storage crate at home depot. The components of my unit fit in it dissassembled, but its just a bit too small to fit an assembled unit. It works for the time being, but I am constantly on the lookout for something a better myself.

Best of luck with your unit!

Re: Shipping Crates/Cases

Just for general transport (not flying) I put the whole unit, minus cylinders, into an Oceanic Gear Gulper blue crate. I have long 3 litre cylinders and they will fit in if I take them off the unit.

More for divers based in England try Solent Plastics

look under Marine Storage they also do some nice large boxes to store caving gear in.

Re: Shipping Crates/Cases

Wait for an office move then borrow a TeaCrate, amazingly tough and waterproof, excellent for transporting whole CK (might pack too heavy for flying though?)

Great for the back of the car, see my profile pic!

Re: Shipping Crates/Cases

I use a cheap hardbacked suitcase from Tesco that cost me around £30 for a set of three.
