![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Shipping Crates/Cases These IPL units are about twice as heavy as what you quoted for some other ones. Are the others really 5lbs or are the IPL units more inline with the expected weight? I don't mean to knitpick but every pound counts when flying. If the Skip's Marine units are as sturdy as you describe at 5lbs, then I'd be happy trying to score those. That extra 5lbs could be a backup regulator set. ![]() Thanks Quote was based on a calibrated hand hefting one... not a scale. The IPL ones are the only choice with a lid, and the Ropak ones weigh the same anyhow. Somebody toss one on a scale and let us know what it really weighs? My fish-scale went overboard last year and I've not replaced it yet. Dave .

![]() ![]() | Re: Shipping Crates/Cases After all this discussion I thought I might just use my huge Wenoka scubajunk bag for this upcoming trip to Cayman the kiss fits pretty good, but came to worry about the crushability of the bag. Now after a delightful chat with Linda from Industries Emile Lachance Ltd., in St Damien Quebec, I have a couple of 3118-11 crates and lids on their way. Crate and lid is about $40 Cdn plus outrageous Canadian federal and provincial sales taxes and a modest bit of shipping. Cheers all, R

![]() ![]() | Re: Shipping Crates/Cases I was PM'd to ask if I could take a pic of my CK in a fish crate. Well, here it is. And I'll say it right now, when Dave Sutton is right, he's right. I have posted two views, so you can get a sense of perspective. You'll notice that the Narked stand is still attached. Since I want to get a lot of stuff in this crate for my Cayman trip next week, I will be taking the stand off the machine, and the scrubber canister off the CL case. That way I can pack the crate most efficiently. However, for the sake of argument, here is the machine in the crate, with the stand on, almost ready to dive. There is enough depth that I could easily have the wing and backplate attached as well, and still get the lid on. I think for the few $ that these will end up costing, they are an amazing value for this use. Thanks for the advice everybody, I didn't know it would end up being such a huge thread when I started it a few months ago. ![]() ![]()
