![]() | Re: Sport KISS tweaks Mike are you using the steel 13's or alum? Also do you have a pic of your rig with the plates that you made , for the 30cf pony? Also, what are the Portland mounts? Sailorman - My comments on this thread... I used to worry about dust and use the insp scrims on my sport kiss but gave them up as a waste of time. I make sure the majority of dust blows away when filling the scrubber. After breathing the loop for a while there's too much moisture to allow dust IMO. No ill affects in the last 18 mos or so. I tried some gauze material but found it was hard to breathe thru it. I found that mounting the rig high on my back and adjusting the counterlung size plate is critical also. I made some U shaped brackets to hold a 20-30 cf pony bottle across my back on the bottom of the can to balance the weight across my back and raise the unit for easier mounting/donning from a bench. M&J swivels streamlined all the hoses. I use the 14 cf 2015 PSI bottles with portland mounts. Easier to fill from HP tanks in my garage. filling my drysuit and BC from the 21 cf pony allows me to do my typical 3 dive day without a fill on any of the tanks as long as I have enough bailout for the depth of the third dive. |

I'd love to do some warm water dives with it. Remote possibility I'll be in FL looking at a sailboat in the coming months. Wouldn't be too terribly hard to bring the KISS. |

I don't know, I like that idea also, I could see it benifit the unit, and being more streamlined, but in an emergency situation, I like to sling the bottles, as I could easyley un-hook it, and give it to somone if needed ( Diving O/C ) Coming from diving doubles , and slinging bottles for years, I think i would use the same princable with the Sport Kiss. I'm all for being streamlined, but not sure If I would mount it there myself. |

![]() | Re: Sport KISS tweaks Reading the sport kiss manual I expected the rig to be bottom heavy already. For me, it was top heavy (using a weight integrated BC). Mounting the pony on the bottom balanced my setup but talking with my friends and how their rigs balance, it wont work for everybody. Mounted high up for easy breathing, the bottom of my rig is still above my butt. I wouldn't go to the trouble of building this unless you could knew the balance would work out. I like the fact its all self contained and I still have the option of sling bottles on the front. Mike |
