Do you place the scrims in between the mesh and the sorb or do you add them on the other side of the mesh? I've got mine between the mesh and the plastic frame, mainly because the previous owner of my CK replaced the top screen with aluminium mesh which has now gone brittle and cracked.Quote: 2. How often do you replace them? Only just fitted it so not sure.Quote: 3. Last one, maybe silly one, but does it increase WOB? I was worried about that but I never noticed anything.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: CK and Sofnolime dust I use APD scrims top and bottom (mesh, scrim, sofnolime, scrim, mesh). I only did a couple of dives without so I can't comment on WOB. I don't get any dust in the head at all. When disinfecting I wipe the inside of the head but never noticed anything. There is a small build up of limescale on the inside of the grey tube but I don't clean it with any abrasive, not even a dish scrubber. About once per year it gets a quick squirt of descaler and rinse immediately with lots of hot water. Fewer places for bacteria to live.

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: CK and Sofnolime dust With Sofnolime I use filters from the hardware store. Filters: AOSafety "COOLMAX" the # 1052 is printed on the front of the filter. The # 95014 is printed at the top of the packaging. They're pleated rectangular filters. Trim the edge off the entire filter and you're left with 2 pieces of material that are remarkably similar to the Inspiro filters. Use the KISS scrubber cap as a template to cut slightly oversized circles. Place them on the scrubber cannister opening and work the edges in with a flat blade screwdriver... Voila! They work great and seem quite durable. Cost is $6.00 for two and you get enough material for at least 4 filters. The company that produces them is AEARO Here is the web address (long, add both lines): http://www.aosafety.com/diy/project_...bproject_id=18 |

You'll end up at Respiratory Protection, Drywall Installation. WOB is not increased and I no longer see dust in the pod after a dive. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: CK and Sofnolime dust As I've only just started diving my KISS, I've been doing a search of previous threads on Rebreather World looking for some tips and bits of advice and had'nt come across this one yet. Sounds like using Inspo scrims is well worth doing, cheers. Gary

| CK 69+Shearwater Pursuit Current Rebreather/s: | Re: CK and Sofnolime dust Dunno how well it works but I've taken to 'vacuum cleaning' the scrubber by sticking the hose of the vacuum cleaner over the central scrubber tube and use it to draw air through the scrubber bed for maybe 20-30 seconds. Not sure how much dust it actually removes but it makes me feel more comfortable about the amount of dust in the scrubber bed. And I have a pair of inspo scrims too top and bottom of the scrubber stack. |
