![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: KISS Announces Results of Scrubber Duration Testing I don't imagine +ve testing is a problem, I think the diaphragm presses against the cover but on a -ve there is nothing to support it but the needle. Tha manual suggests only doing short -ve tests. I don't think it says anything about +ve durations. I haven't yet had to soap test mine but it will hold a fairly decent positive pressure. I think you can also elongate the spring in the OPV to increase the +ve resistance. Is it in the video or the manual ?

![]() | Re: KISS Announces Results of Scrubber Duration Testing We must have spoken to different people then.... or cross-purposes. I'm not sure who you spoke with but I spoke with Kim in person. She paid to have the KISS units CE tested. I believe that was before Kevin put together his comparison.I'm not sure what you mean by cross-purposes. But the two sets of tests were independent. Jeff

If she had it done in the UK there isnt many other places she could have gone to. If it was not done in the UK but to en specs the test would have been the same anyway Dave |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: KISS Announces Results of Scrubber Duration Testing The testing for Jetsam was done in the UK on an ANSTI machine. Kim traveled to the UK last year (2006) to have the KISS Classic tested at the same ANSTI location Kevin uses so she could start the CE testing process (Required to sell products in the UK). A few months after that she sent a Sport KISS over to Kevin and paid him to have the Sport tested at the same location. These tests were completed LONG before Kevin did the testing for the other units mentioned on the chart. Kim spoke with me over a month ago about placing a special full page advertisement inside the DEMA issue announcing the KISS CE tests. (see page 3 in ADM issue 27 coming off the presses and shipped before DEMA) I feel Kim deserves extra respect and recognition for going completely out of her way to provide direct testing results to the masses. (Something she did not have to do)

Wob tests and scrubber tests should be provided for every rebreather irrespective of whether it goes for CE testing or not. Dave |

Dave[/quote] You are correct, but to be able to compare units the tests must be completed under the same procedures and standards. Without this, testing results will carry no weight and could be altered to provide better results. Maybe in the future, divers will expect these tests be completed and provided to the customer prior to purchasing a unit?

Jeez curt, next you'll want to stamp some sort of mark to show the units passed testing. We could call it CB? ![]() Looking at both kim/kevins testing there were some suprises and some confirmations, but one thing thats sure is that publishing the test spec and the results (breakthrough/WOB graphs) can only be good for end users. Once again DT hits the nail on the head.....

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: KISS Announces Results of Scrubber Duration Testing Hello everyone, Sorry about the late response to this thread. I don't always get internet on my laptop when I travel, and then got hit with a bad flu. I think this subject has been discussed very well, and I don't have to much to add, as others have already commented for me. in general, I did my testing at the ANSTI facility last year for the classic kiss. For the sport kiss testing, I hired kevin gurr to assist and sent him a new unit to test for me. While both kevin and/or I were present during this testing, the units were independently tested at ANSTI by Ian. With regards to comments I read on RBworld someplace (sorry don't remember which thread) about kevin and I planning to release information at the same time, this is just not true. I've been planning for many months to release my duration data to the public just prior to these shows, and as Curt mentioned, I have taken out an additional full page ad in ADM to ensure the information gets to everyone. I found out about the chart only days before the Dive Show 2007, when I spoke with Kevin. There was an earlier comment by an optima instructor located in Florida who feels that I copied without permission the table which outlines sustainable RMV's and CO2 generation. This is just not true. I felt that my write up needed something to help put the test parameters into context. In the past I had discussions with Kevin about this, but did not remember the data. I contacted kevin and he sent me the data; and he explained to me that he got it from the US navy manual. Also, when I contacted kevin to get the data, he found out that I was planning on releasing my information, and I found out he was doing the chart. Hope I've answered everything, Kim Smith jetsam.ca |
