Paragon->Mares BOV

Just had a quick query - is it possible to convert an old-style paragon BOV to take the Mares reg, or is it a case of purchasing a new BOV?

Cheers,

David

Re: Paragon->Mares BOV

Once you have the adapter it can be used to adapt many different types/brands of regs to the BOV.

Re: Paragon->Mares BOV

Thanks for the replies, chaps - is there a list somewhere of what regs can then be fitted?

Also, on a similar vein, does Jetsam publish a complete list of parts and their costs, or do you have to contact them for every one?

Cheers!

Re: Paragon->Mares BOV

A couple of weeks back I adapted my Scubapro S600 second stage to fit the KISS BOV. I sacrificed my Paragon to do so though. I had a bit of a leak going on the paragon somewhere and was trying to track it down (I think it was coming from the adjustment knob) and in so doing I lost the screw that held the knob onto the reg. Figured what the hell why not see about mating up one of my S600's since I've been planning on doing it forever.

Looking at the opening on the BOV compared to the S600 and it was obvious that it would take quite a bit of filing to make it fit and it wouldn't leave much room for error. Looking @ the Paragon I saw that the mouthpiece tab (for lack of a better word, it's what fits into the opening of the BOV) was around the right size to fit inside the S600 mouthpiece tab with a little shaping. So, out came the Dremel with a cutting disc. I cut the tab off the Paragon and was going to fit it into the S600 when a quicker thought came to mind. The Paragon tab was a bit too big to fit inside the opening of the S600 tab but rested pretty firmly on its tab. So, out came the epoxy and I simply epoxied the Paragon tab to the S600 tab. Problem solved. Stock o-ring from the Paragon is used to seal it, perfect fit since it's the same tab used from the factory, and the stock plate that held the Paragon holds the S600.

That's particularly interesting, as the pile of alternative regs I have are an S600, an R395 and an R295.

I think as I've only got one S600, I'd rather keep that on the bailout bottle, and maybe put the R395 on the BOV, with the R295 on the 50% deco bottle. Do you happen to know whether the R395 will mate happily with the Jetsam Mares adaptor? I don't really fancy dremelling or epoxying, as it's the kind of thing I'd end up screwing up

Don't know off hand but I'll wager you'll have to modify the adapter for anything other than the Mares.
