![]() | Megs Just wanted to say hello to the rebreather world community,I'm new to this forum. I am looking to by a Meg and seriously interested at buying a new one. The manufacturers have not replied to my emails asking for rough league times. Does anyone out there know if it will be a long wait? Has anyone had experience with Kiss and Meg, if so could you give me your opinion and preference. Cheers and safe diving |

He resides in Perth & is a distributor for both units here in Oz. I'm pretty sure Steve can give you a Demo on both. I dive the classic KISS & can only say that they are a terrific breather, low cost, reliable , easy to travel with, good source of parts & great service from Jetsam or the agents here. Having said all that What more could you ask for ---unless you wanted to be an Auto pilot (ECCR). ![]()

Unfortunately, email is not their strong point. Their production keeps them very busy especially these days. To get their attention, go the old fashioned route and call them. They just hired a production manager so things should get a little better as they move forward.Has anyone had experience with Kiss and Meg, if so could you give me your opinion and preference. Currently, lead time is running 3 months. Meg Opinion: Hardware-wise, it's built like a rock. It's favorably for deep wreck and cave. Very difficult to flood. It's modular so it can accomodate a wide variety of configurations and customizations. It travels very well; even carry-on. Software leaves one wanting more, but it gets the job done. Everyone is looking forward to the new, always-on-the-verge-of-being-released APECS 3.0 software which should have a lot of the features everyone has chimed in for plus new ones.

The lead times are quite similar which is currently between 2-3 months depending where in the build cycle you place your order. Drop me a line and we can get together for a better discussion.

This is the same choice I had, but ended up with the yank(ee) over the canuck made unit. I'm such a traitor (as I'm Canadian).I am looking to by a Meg and seriously interested at buying a new one. Has anyone had experience with Kiss and Meg, if so could you give me your opinion and preference. Cheers and safe diving G'day AlexP, That's asking for trouble, but no big deal... Having said all that What more could you ask for ---unless you wanted to be an Auto pilot (ECCR). ![]() Not yet officially disclosed and speculated safety statistics seem to be better for mCCR's (KISS, Revo, or COPIS Meg style Rebreather's). If you do choose eCCR, your Meg instructor will likely encourage manual eCCR flight in order for you to build the correct eCCR habit. It is not meant to be an autopilot! My argument is that a properly operated eCCR is safer than mCCR as the SP controller will take over if I should ever become over task loaded. You'll also have greater depth capability and a machine that withstands much travel abuse. Statistics are totally against me, but I think that this is a result of indeed, many eCCR'rs operating their unit as an auto-pilot. It requires good monitoring skills, and the ability to checklist your pre-dive, every dive. Last edited by Gilles : 11th February 2007 at 11:47. |
