| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Hello Rebreather World I'm making a late'ish return to diving having been a military diver rather a while ago.... I've started again from the very beginning and done my PADI OW and Advanced courses, and become a Nitrox diver. I really enjoyed the small amount of Rebreather diving I did years ago, and can see how in recreational diving, it's obviously far superior to OC (no bubbles or noise, to be like a fish). I've deliberately not bought any gear yet, as I'm aiming to get into CCRB as soon as I can. I'd appreciate any advice people might have about how much experience one should acquire with OC nitrox before progressing to Rebreather. I'd like to get straight into closed circuit, and have no desire to do deep diving until I'm good and ready, and will be perfectly happy making like a fish at 30m or less. I don't want to buy computers, dv's and other gear until I know what I'm doing. Emperor Divers's Try-Out week of various types of Rebreather's looks very sensible. But I'm very aware of the need to log up enough relevant experience, and would appreciate thoughts on how best to do that: maybe with more open circuit nitrox dives and PADI specialties? Or maybe PADI is going in the wrong direction for where I need to be headed? But there's loads of really helpful stuff here; loads for me to be getting on with. Many thanks. |
