![]() | Salutations to all rebreather divers. Dear all, This being my first post, I salute to all who have taken a step towards rebreather. It is dangerous, it can kill, but hell, like what many would agree, the gear is only about as safe as the diver. That statement forms the first of my diving philosophies. Being only 18, open water certified since 14, and no income, I am still a long way from being a qualified rebreather diver. I can only gape in awe as the divers here plunge to incredible depths, seeing incredible Nature and most importantly feel the awesome enormity of the ocean and one's own smallness and vulnerability. Somehow, I feel diving brings out the virtue of humility and respect in those who embark on it. Whatever it is, to gain a bit of that rebreather experience, I have started myself on the homebuilders path. My first project is a depth limited (20 feet) pure O2 semi pendulum rebreather, somewhat like P1SS and the $100 rebreather. ALL who I have met to ask for help have called me crazy or nuts or something along that lines. I know that and yes, I've read and re read the disclaimers on the numerous sites. However, between now and my first pool test dive and subsequently an open water test, I made a pact with myself to only do it if I can surmount enough knowledge to handle one without getting killed. I guess that is all for now. To all divers out there, warm air and safe diving. Thank you and God Bless to all, Tian Chang |
