![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My name is Andrew and I live in Wiltshire in the UK. I am fairly new to diving with 90 dives in the two years since I qualified. I am now Rescue diver level. I have always been attracted to the idea of rebreathers and finally had an opportunity to try an Inspiration Classic whilst on a liveaboard (Hurricane) in the Red Sea a few weeks back. By the time I was back on the boat (I had about 35 mins at 24 mtrs) I knew that this is the way to go I am planning to purchase either a Meg or an Evo next spring and to train either in the UK or back in Egypt. I am leaning towards the Evo at the moment because of the more advances Vision electronics, the CE approval and the number of uints out there. I will be travelling with it so will probably look at a travel frame for this. I know that the Meg is very well made, extremely cool and that it is relatively easy to travel with, but on balance I feel the Vision system gives the Evo a substantial advantage at the moment. I have been lurking on this forum for some while and have found it to be a fantastic place to research and accumulate knowledge and understanding. I thank all of you for your contributions. Can anyone recommend an Evo instructor relatively near me? |

I would have choosen the same unit, a. because of the Vision and b. because of the location of the manufacturer. APD has a list of instructors and so does IANTD. If you consider taking your course in Egypt, then Dave Thompson is certainly an option. Have fun, Peter |

By the time I was back on the boat (I had about 35 mins at 24 mtrs) I knew that this is the way to go Before you finalise your choice, consider the Inspiration Vision. The choice between the Evo and Inspiration has been discussed a few times on here and the consensus seems to come back to the Inspiration. In summary the reasons are: I am planning to purchase either a Meg or an Evo next spring and to train either in the UK or back in Egypt. I am leaning towards the Evo at the moment because of the more advances Vision electronics, the CE approval and the number of uints out there. I will be travelling with it so will probably look at a travel frame for this. Can anyone recommend an Evo instructor relatively near me? - Longer scrubber life in UK conditions (especially with the Tempstik) - 3l cylinders are easier to find when travelling than 2l (you say you are thinking about a Travelframe, but it's still worth thinking about keeping the original case) - There isn't that much difference in price - As ever, much of what you save in weight of the unit you'll probably have to make up with lead anyway, so you may as well take more gas/lime down with you I ended up with the Inspiration Vision and can thoroughly recommend it (based on limited experience so far). I can also thoroughly recommend Rich Stevenson at Deep Blue Diving in Plymouth. He stocks and teaches on KISS, Meg, Evo and Inspiration Classic/Vision so can talk you through the pros and cons. I've also heard very good things about Dave Thompson and was certainly impressed when I did Advanced Nitrox with him a few years ago. Good luck with your choice and have fun. Cheers,
