![]() | Hello from New Jersey, USA Hello everyone, I am very new to rebreathers, although I have been diving for 10 yrs. I have 3 checkout dives to be completed for rebreather certification. I'm interested in hearing about first time experiences, particularly with the Drager Dolphin. Thanks. |

![]() | Re: Hello from New Jersey, USA Sorry for not replying sooner. However to answer your question: I'm a NAUI/PADI/SDI/TDI instructor. Which means that I'm busy teaching diving and not doing as much diving as I would like. I do a lot of NJ Wreck Dives (except for this year) and North Carolina Wreck Diving, whenever I can. I try to do at least one big trip a year. A little deco diving if its an interesting wreck, e.g. RP Resor in NJ, or the Papoose in NC. The Doria is out of my league. I have 8 dives on my Drager Dolphin, but all in Dutch Springs, PA. Once I got used to the difference in breathing, I really started to like rebreathing diving. So much so, that I bought one. I'm going to Cocos next week and I'll get a lot of experience there. I plan on diving my rebreather mostly in North Carolina and on my annual big trips. There are few Jersey Dive Boats that will take on rebreather divers, but I have to give that a second look. |

![]() | Re: Hello from New Jersey, USA Good old Don at Hunterdon... I took a Dolphin course with him last year and paid him in full upon completion. Here's where the story gets good. While waiting for my C-card I cancelled an odred for some tanks. I found them on eBay for half what good old Don was selling them to me for. After numerous calls to the shop asking for my card, which Don said he would mail me, he out and out said that I screwed him out of money and that he was not going to mail me the card...I had to pick it up! 100 miles out of my way! His exact words were " I want to inconvenience you because you screwed me" This guy is supposed to be a professional? In fifteen years of diving I never meet a character like this... Don, I hope you read this...take the card you owe me stick it up your ass I recently got certified on the Insperation and had the pleasure of having Dan Crowell as my instructor...Dan is a true professional. I apologize to all here for my rant...this has been bothering me for the last year. Safe diving to all, and to Don, ![]() |
