![]() | intrested in Rebreathers Where would be the the best (or any for that matter) place, to experience a rebreather in person, in North West Florida region (Pensacola)? I have been reading on the net about rebreathers of and on for about a year. And would really like to try one out in a pool or get and introduction to one in person. John Grimes |

As far as we know we're the only Rebreather owners in town. She and I both have Megs and we'd be happy to show them off anytime. I also know of at least one Optima over in Ft. Walton Beach, and more Megs, KISS, and a Boris (Ouroborous) in the Tallahassee area. Drop me a PM anytime. Brian

Further east in cave country you'll find instructors for most commen CCRs.John Jones for example for the Optima has been quite busy training many of the board's Optima divers. There are AP, Meg and PRISM instructors, too. AP and SMI have their instructors listed on their websites, Jetsam some of them. IANTD has an instructor search machine by location and unit. SMI isn't too far away, and you can visit the shop. If you get lucky they may have an instructor candidate visiting for training and may just throw an intro at him as part of it. 'Crazyduck' did that, I believe. The most convinient way would be Advanced Diver Magazine's Rebreather Intro as those usually cover several units. Something to look out for. Curt Bowen posts announcements here as well as on the ADM website.

I found it most helpful to attend one of these seminars as it gave me the chance to compare (and to test dive) four units. After having all of my questions answered and comparing units at the seminar, I was able to make my final selection. |
