![]() | Hello to all, I am from CapeTown South Africa. Reabreathers are very new to me though I've known about them for some time. I have enrolled in a rebreather course but can not make up my mind which reabreather to go for. |

It's really much a matter of what your needs and wants are. Luckily there are lots of rebreathers to choose from these days, so you shuld be able to find something that suits you.

Why not give a post in Introductions and tell us about yourself and what kind of diving you do? Then when you've got your breather and you know some good places to get gas, lime and some good boats in Cape Town then let us know. It is one of my must dive places on my list. I might even be able to persuade the Weaselly One! Cheers and good luck, Dave Cooper.

If you've booked your course then I would expect you need to choose whatever your instructor is rated to teach on?Ian |

Hey Dave!It is one of my must dive places on my list.Cheers and good luck, Dave Cooper. You guys are more than welcome - and gas, boats and sorb isn't a problem. Just say when you will be here and consider it taken care of. By the way, the winter diving here in False Bay is probably the best, so aim for May to August-ish. rgds monty |

Michael,I am on the same course as yourself and have been pondering the same painful choice. After many months of plaintive argument (with myself mostly) I have come to a decision => Inspiration with Vision Electronics. The final reason for the decision was the lack of other breathers around SA and the simple requirement for parts and service in SA. There is however potentially a chance that I could be swayed to a MEG if there were more of them around. Oh well... enough rambling... see you at the course and good luck with your decision. Nick |

![]() | Re: Choice of rebreather I don't know how much use it will be to you, but I recently went though the rebreather unit decision process and wrote up my findings: http://spiralbound.net/2005/12/29/re...uation-part-1/ I liked all three units that I evaluated, and I doubt that I would have gone wrong with any of them. For me though, its important to understand the reasons behind their decision, ie what type of diving they do/in what environment/local support infrastructure. You may know him ... his name is helium! rgds monty Last edited by montyg : 18th June 2006 at 19:28. Reason: spelling :-O |
