![]() | G'Day from Melbourne, Australia. Actually I am an American, but I learned to dive here in the 1960s. My first rebreather was a Cressi Sub ARO-57B. I located another one during my quest to recaputure my misspent youth. (the time I spent diving when I should have been studying) I have been a Rip Van Winkle diver, returning after many years of absence. I caved a bit in Florida in the 70's, dived Hawaii when I was in the Army and a bit in Germany, North Carolina and the St Lawrence Seaway. I lived in Utah for sometime and got wet again there. I Have a Cressi, as I mentioned, a Submatix CCR, Azimuth CCR, a Drager LAR, and a C-96. I sold my IDA-64 about a year ago and my Avon CDBA a few months ago. I also dive o/c vintage gear and collect gear from the 50's a 60's. I have booked a trip to Truk for September, but I can shore dive about a mile from my house at anytime. Melbourne is a good place to dive. We have an enormous bay, which opens onto the Bass Strait, which joins the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Sea life here is unique. There are Sea Dragons, and Great Whites, and the odd hump back nearby. The crays are great too, but you can only take 2 a day. It's dry suit weather at the moment. I do most of my diving with my LAR as the profile picture shows. I am not much of a deep diver. I am content to paddle around in 8 or 9 meters of water, on oxygen and just enjoy being there.
