Newbie says hello

Hello all,

I've been tweaking along on this site for a while, and now an introduction:

I bought a second hand dolphin over a year ago, got trained on it and dived it "a little", because I had from the start the idea to change it to ccr. I thought (and still think) the way of converting would be the best way to learn: "If you can't make them, don't dive them".

So only last evening I did my first dive with my CCR converted dolphin. For the conversion I mainly used tecme parts (hydrogom valve and O2 meter). I wanted to make my own valve, but got blocked by the inposibility to find (payable) conversions from NPT thread to BSP.

Well, I am hooked from the very first moment !

You will be able to read aboutmy experience on http://jan.bruggeman.com

Re: Newbie says hello

Welcome to Rebreather World,

and the CCR Dolphin gang.

While you won't notice it in the pool, the Uwatec computer setup doesn't seem to do well in CCR mode.

If I recall the issue correctly; It isn't expecting the PO2 levels in the shallower depths, that while normal for ccr, would be wayyyy high for an scr, and there for doesn't process things properly.

There have been several threads here recently regarding that.

If I can find one, I'll adit the link.

A VR3 or Explorer is pretty much a "must have" for a ccr dolphin.

Darlene

Here's the thread I was thinking of, or at least one of them:

Welcome to the crew...

Psst- Darlene that’s an Uwatec Aladin original (gray model) not a Z series.

He is running the sensors to the triple PPO2 display Mark M. board done by techme.
I think… because I have sure been wrong before.

You just have to love friends.
Later, Andrew

OOoooops,

Yeppers, You're correct.

Sucks to realize I need to wear my glasses *a lot more* often than I do.

Re: Newbie says hello

Hi folks,

thanks for the reactions. I am indeed using my old air-Uwatec as a dive timer only, and the 3 display unit from tecme to monitor O2.

The Uwatec computer and air-2 that came with the rebreather are for sale, as you can see in the "parts for sale" forum on this site.

I am in the market for a VR3 or similar, so all info on that is welcome !
