Hello from Sunny Sri Lanka

Surronded by water all my life but it took me 40 years to start diving. Since then been hooked big time. Fascinated with rebreathers but never tried one yet. Not much facilities available in Sri Lanka for this.

Anyway hope to learn something from here and may be make some friends as well.

Happy diving and give me a shout if anyone were to visit my neck of the woods.

Ajith

Welcome to Rebreather World, Ajith.
Sri Lanka, now there's a rare destination, I think you're the first to join us.
How is the diving in Sri Lanka?

Welcome to the list..

What part of Colombo do you live it? I used to live in Colmbo 7 (for 8 months while trying to start a rural telecom..) I loved the country and hope to get back there someday.

Any chance you know Ajit Assurapa (not sure of the spelling of last name :-)

Re: Hello from Sunny Sri Lanka

Hi Stephan/Phil,

As Phil would probably confirm Sri Lanka does have some good dive sites and has diving all year round in different locations. During this time t is the monsoon in the west where I live but the east coast is great. The only problem is that we have a civil war going on in that region so we cannot go there. Couple of good wrecks- the best known being the Hermes, a ww2 aircraft carrier in 53m going down to almost 60. Loads of fish but all the corals have been messed up with blast fishing and other such practices.

Phil - I also stay in Colombo 07, down Ward place. Ajit Asarappa is not known personally to me but I know he is a member of a club I belong to thats the Colombo Rowing Club. Small world huh?
