| so I must introduce myself Hello, I recently subscribed to your community, and was gently asked to introduce myself... what should i say about myself related to rebreathers ? hope it won't be boaring to read that so stop if you start sleeping (---: Ok after a trimix training I bougth a dolphin in 98...and dove it scr after a short training. After drowning my nasty oxygage (the drager one) I built a double analog one (2 sensors in a holder in the insp hose). over time I went on modifying my dolphin buiding a fiberglass shell, mounting a double wing and tek harness on it, all home made. I ve dived this scr rig trimix down to 80 m without problems. Then I switched to kiss style ccr, and finished building a new gage, three sensors in a nice cell holder, voting logic pic circuit with loud alarms, houssing made in epoxy resin ...and that's all (((-: I did not re-invented the wheel ((-: I am one of those perfectly uncertified, untrained mccr divers....(don't follow my example please), I had to develope my own ccr diving methodes to avoid hypoxia (my main concern) and survive in the ccr world. As I don't consider myself clever enough to pilot an automatic addition Rebreather (eccr), I had to buit a simple rig and invent simples methodes for a simple man (((-: I really think that, for me and maybe for some others, it is really difficult to analyse properly a failure underwater to find the good diagnosis and to bring the good remedy...all of that in a short time...even if things happend slowly on ccr... So I developed 7 diving rules (only for me and my best friend..I am not an instructor and don't want to give lessons to anybody) 1/ do a complete dive planing, check list (gaz tests, flow rate tests....)and o2 calibration (not air) 2/ pre breathe at least 5 minutes your Rebreather on the boat staring the gauge (if you collapse don't dive (((- )3/ jump in the water wings full, pure o2 in the loop, dil tap turned off (no chance of surface hypoxia) 4/ open the dil tap a just before going down following the anchor line. 5/ stop at 15' m for bubble check and do a big flush to low down ppo2 6/ check your oxygauge every 3 minutes at least (as I am a stupid guy I've attached a casio watch to my mask strap that rings every 3 minutes !!! and every time I check the displays if it stops i die!!!) 7/ and the last , I would say my main personal rule : if you have any doubt about what you are breathing : go straigth away oc on your big stage and quitely start your ascent and deco, don't try to flush to see where the problem is, do not try to interpret your displays to try to understand...do it later alive on the boat.... Don't know if i am on the good track but in spite on a good couple of failures underwater I have always managed to find a safe route to the surface...hope it will last....but god I will never switch back to open circuit. I dive in the Med (Cannes france) , max 80m max 40' stops and I entrust my life to two hs explorers and to Mr winkee. regards jean mi |
