My First KISS in New South Wales

I've got this new bit of dive gear (Classic KISS #238) that I know very little about so I figured that I'd sign up to Rebreather World. Hello.

My first question's got nothing to do with diving however. I'm pretty new to web lists and I'd like to know how you lot all get cool names like 'CaveSeeker' etc. etc. and I end up with plain old 'markbonnar' (which is my name by the way)

I'm currently taking some KISS training at Southern Cross Divers in Sydney (although I'm from Scotland) with Barry Hallett. So far so good. I had my first dive on the 'unit' at the weekend - fantastic! I've been diving OC for 15 years and after one CC dive I'm pretty sure I'll never go back.

First thing on the site which has caught my eye is the Narked@90 stand/handle. I'm pretty sure that's going to be the first add-on, although I am going to try and keep it pretty standard for a while based on some good advice from Steve Pearson as our local club who dives a Mk15.

So, I'm glad to be here and happy to recieve tips from all you seasoned Rebreather divers out there.

Mark

Hi Mark
Welcome to Rebreather World, just a suggestion maybe get your training from someone who has done a substantial amount of Diving on the Kiss units.
In saying they are a nice simple unit and really enjoyable to dive.

OK guessing comp for australian members. who is hiding behind FIFI

But of history for those that don't remember. FIFI is Pawel's pet dog, and was once given credit for more CCR knowledge than certain Austrailian CCR divers. (diveoz slagging match)

So given that and this person is suggesting that Barry may not be the best person to train with (and hence has it in for barry), and best guess says has been in a serious disagreement with Pawel to take on his dogs name, I reckon the person would have to be ????
(how's the weather there mate , I believe it's 27 and windy today)

Hi Mark

Hang about SXD, you'll see one of those KISSS stands in action, I just have to get in the water (X fingers for Saturday) soon, or it may get ugly at work...

Like that narrows it down...
Are there any CCR divers in Aust who;
Wouldn't take a dig at Baz at any opportunity?
Haven't had a disagreement with Pawel?

Actually, whilst it's tempting to look to the west for a solution, perhaps the dog hasn't strayed far from home at all?

Mike

And not in Aus.

Matty, Pawel is a member,
though hasn't been around in while.
IP adresses and ISPs are different, by the way.

Hi Caveseeker7, thanks for taking a look to check.
Please keep an eye on it please, sock puppets are a tiresome nuisance.

Hi markbonnar , welcome aboard, sorry for the teething probs on your first post. Rebreather World is a nice place to hang, ask questions and answer a few when you can.

I did my KISS course through Big Bad Bazza. With the water out front/back and oodles of dives to long reef it is a pretty good spot. There are also some experienced KISS divers that frequent the shop so you can pick their brains one on one and see their kit for ideas and problem solving.

Hope you enjoy the new unit.
