![]() | Hello from Texas! Hi, I'm happy to have found such a great Forum on RBs. I just finished a 30 minute Couch Dive yesterday on a homemade O2 CCR. Next weekend I plan to hit a nearby pool for sea trials! I'll try to post pics of the unit as soon as possible for those that are interested. |

Hey, couch diving could really be the next big thing - just think of the advantages:- Excellent visibility is guaranteed (particularly if couch faces out of a window) - Temperature can be manually controlled - no more cold, uncomfortable dives! - Dependability: little risk of dives being blown out due to bad weather - Easy access: no lumping kit for miles - Easy exit: close to access point, no crawling up ladders - The problem of boring deco stops is a thing of the past - simply gaze at the tv - Minimal physical exertion - couch diving opens up the diving world to the couch potato - No boats - martyrs to sea sickness can participate in comfort - No need for a drysuit: scuba fashion will take huge leaps forward - Privacy and exclusivity - every diver has their own personal dive site in the privacy of their own home. Access can be limited to a select few... - Ergonomic comfort: the new reclining diving position will soon eclipse the old, outdated and much overrated horizontal-with-face-pointing-at-the-sand position -Nutritional advantages: the barriers to having a quick snack on a long dive are much reduced - No more diving elitism and snobbery: divers can be joined by snorkellers, free divers, swimmers and even paddlers on the glorious couch of equality... I can see that there may be some old dinosaurs who persist in maintaining that couch diving cannot rival so-called "real" diving, but this is just plain narrow minded! |

Quote: - just think of the advantages: That depends on your diving, though. If you're overhead diving in the attic you still got to lug your gear up the ladder.- Easy exit: close to access point, no crawling up ladders Quote: - The problem of boring deco stops is a thing of the past - simply gaze at the tv You still need to make sure it's a good program, or rather than hanging on deco you might run the risk of hanging yourself on deco. ![]() Quote: - No boats - martyrs to sea sickness can participate in comfort Yeah, but if the snack or anything elese induces sea-sickness you gotta clean up the mess unless you flood the living room and throw in a few fishes you can feed. - Nutritional advantages: the barriers to having a quick snack on a long dive are much reduced Quote: - No more diving elitism and snobbery ... the glorious couch of equality... That may be wishfull thinking. Soon couch divers will argue who has the better, more comfy couch, DIR (Doing It Reclyning) or not, SCR vs. CCR (Snuggly Couch Rebreathing vs. Comfy Couch Rebreathing), disadvantages relying on power in massaging couches, where to mount the snack trey ... ... we're a loopy bunch, the discussions will never end. ![]() |
