True - then there is the age-old debate about whether it is irresponsible not to have a bail-out armchair and just fly the couch alpinist, ... we're a loopy bunch, the discussions will never end. ![]() the dilemma of how to tell whether the cushions are too old and what replacement strategy should be adopted for them (all at once or one at a time? When they stop feeling so soft and comfy, or not until the springs show through?) and should the beginner couch-diver be taught to stay on the couch or encouraged to hop into an armchair at the first sign of trouble? Its all very perplexing. And I never did master the skill of flying the couch semi-closed - I tended to find the stuffing fell out. Still, lots of scope for self-expression: my couch is going to have a purple cover on it ![]() |

You don't want to punture the counterlungs or any private parts. ![]() Quote: Still, lots of scope for self-expression: my couch is going to have a purple cover on it Purple down cover. ![]() ![]()

| Nice, simple design SK - am I seeing tyre innertube counterlungs there? Hmmm... I wonder how well they would backmount... Have you tried? Just thinking it would be a very robust design for a bailout Rebreather...

Just a thought, but have you considered using a "packed away" set of counterlungs like the commercial bailout breathers do? The lungs are held in a harness (much like an inflatable life jacket) and are deployed by pulling a toggle. May be interesting. ![]()
