![]() | Hello Hello I have joined this forum to pick your brains! I have been thinking of purchasing a rebreather for a few years now and just have never got round to it, due to work and family commitments, but this year i am going to take the plunge and have the oppotunity of buying an Azimuth SCR to test the waters, so to speak and would like to have your opinion is the Azimuth a good unit to learn on?? Thanks Charley

| Made in England. Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Hello The Azzimuth has quite a good quality for price thing going on, and if your diving habbits are recreational, max 40mt. no or little deco, and you aren't thinking of doing any deeper diving, then it could be what your looking for. You would benefit from the warm moist air, reletively noise free diving and is lighter than a twin set to carry on your back. But you are basicly following a nitrox curve, (no deco advantages) and therefore if you want to go deeeper or for any lengh of time, go CCR, the pre-dive rituals and day to day maintanance are more or less the same, but the benefits are far greater. I'm going to leave it that, but would add, if it is at all possible, try the thing before buying it, and if possible try something else, maybe a dolphin, just to have some sort of comparrison. Hope you find the right answers, take care. ![]()

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Hello I don't dive an Azimuth, so take my comments with a grain of salt. The size and weight places the Azi in the same category as full sized CCRs. It should serve you well locally, but will be a pita to travel with. Pro and con of weight. ![]() The Azi has hands down the nicest scrubber in production, as well as one of the better performing ones. Some of it's features are neat, the large handle on top (also weight for supposedly excellent balance), the thumb ridge on the DSV, the little stand. Nicely integrated bailout that can be used in the loop or OC. Very nicely finished accesory kit and case. Price is high for unit and spares, but it is a civilian unit of a military design. You can get a mCCR for about the same (list price, anyway). Disadvantes are the same as all cmf SCRs as mentioned above. If you decide on one factor in the need and price for an O2 monitor (Oxygauge, intergated deco computer or the like). Oh, and welcome to Rebreather World. ![]() |
