Afternoon boys and girls

Well, most of you know me anyhow, but there's bound to be a few that don't, so firstly Hello, and hopefully you lot can help a bit in the grnad saga that is my breather.

I started diving in 1996, stopped for a while, then went to Cyprus with a few mates who had their own boat, so lots of diving there. Few silly dives early on, then realised that doing a few tickets would help.

Went back and worked in Cyprus for 3 months before going to uni, then ended up in with Nottingham Uni Sub-Aqua, who are my regular dive buddies at the moment, as well as providing a healthy supply of ladies. Travelled in the summers away from uni to Turkey and around the UK a lot in the last couple of years, but as always had the time but not the money. Now I have the money but no time!!!

Got into tech diving as an idea a few years ago, and was playing in warm water, but decided finally to do a decent job of it and did TDI Nitrox last year, Deco Proc this year and will be doing a breather course in the coming weeks.

I'm a wreck diver more than anything, but I do like trying new things, and having a giggle at types of diving most won't do, or haven't thought about.

First breather was a P1SS that was pretty much given to me ready to go with very few modifications by Duncan www.sump4.com and was fun, but had a few drawbacks. After a few dives I realised this whole thing was a good idea, but that I needed to do something that would fit with what I wanted to do. So I started getting the bits together to build a backmounted Rebreather which was smaller than most on the market (it's about the size of a set of twin 7s) and with easily available parts. Should be finished this week if I get the last few toys (hoses and a couple of little bits I need are on their way hopefully) and ready for a dive in the pool, and if all goes well Stoney next weekend.

One thing I don't like is being told what I can and can't do. I don't mind contructive criticism, or advice, but I won't have someone tell me I can't do it this way or that way. It's always possible, it's just not always easy (or very safe). I do value the opinions of everyone on here that I've seen sign up in the last couple of weeks, as well as those who maybe don't know a lot about the units, because that's where truly original ideas usually come from.

I've dived the inspiration, Azi and Drager units, and so far haven't found any I'm completely happy with, for whatever reason.

Anyway, enough of my ramble. See you all on the boards.

OK, photos is asking a lot of a technophobe who struggles to work a keyboard, let alone a camera strapped to it!

There are a few early photos of the unit knocking about, but what I'm really after is a finished unit (which I nearly have, exept the scrubber has a nasty habit of leaking at the minute, and I'm trying to bodge a way round it) then I will post and be damned.

I will need to get a case and valve guard sorted too, does anyone have a very good source of cheap laser cutters for ali or SS that could do me a job? I've got a couple of bits which are very simple, but will need a good job doing, as they're the finish on the unit effectively.

Oh, and if anyone has a decent scrubber about the size and shape of an Atlantis/Dolphin scrubber, that could be very handy. I'm goign to need to upgrade sometime soon anyhow, so might as well make the change before anything gets set in stone.

Is it me or is there something horribly wrong with my right hand? I seem to have become a pig - look at that little trotter! That's why I have 3-finger gloves. Because in fact, I only have 3 fingers.

Cheers for uploading the photos guys. Much appreciated.
