![]() | First let me say that I am not a diver, not rebreather, not even recreational/open-circuit. My husband dives the Meg and just became a certified cave diver. I'm very proud of him, and it's a pretty darn cool hobby/obsession. (We celebrated his cert with sparkling wine last night.) I'm here because I don't want to be in the dark of ignorance any longer. I am very supportive, but I have tried to distance myself from this part of him because I've been afraid that what little worry I do have will magnify, the more I know about it. He reminds me that he has a greater likelihood of dying in a car accident than in a cave, but I still feel a bit uneasy. Just prior to his trip to Cave Country in Northern FL, I made him a talisman of sorts, a pair of "no-bends boxers." I definitely look forward to poking around and learning more to ease my mind, and to hearing about all of your adventures! |

Ironically, she's also from VT... in any case...it all boils down to training, and continuing education. so long as your husband has strong values in these areas, I would remain confident that he is diving safely

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Hello from Spouse of Rebreather Diver How good of you to join and want to learn. My wife has little interest in my (rebreather) cave diving adventures (maybe she is shielding herself from knowing too much). She always knows where I dive and that the risks I take are calculated ones. She trusts my decisions to do certain dives and others not. Just bear in mind that on this forum, many times things are blown out of proportion and seem worse than they actually are. I think it has to do with the fact that people look for attention and cyber dive more than real life diving. So see things in perspective. Welcome here.

I checked out those boxers ?! Sort of think my wife would make me wear away from home ..... nobody else will go near him in those !! As mentioned by another posting, discussions here are sometimes heated and often folks take rather extreme positions about safety in order to make their point. If I can be of assistance please feel free to PM me. Sincere, -Paul

![]() | Re: Hello from Spouse of Rebreather Diver Thank you all for being so kind and welcoming! @ Si: Trust me, I do know about the costs, but we've agreed to spend as much on my hobbies, so it's win-win for both of us. @ Jim & Ben: apparently the boxers, although a little hideous (or mod depending on how you look at them), are extremely comfy, and the huz has requested more pairs!! Better watch out, some might magically appear in your dive bag too. |
