My wife takes a more direct approach, she has learnt to read my HUD and give the "know your P02 look" very scary. My wife is an OC Diver, and like yourself she had concerns and reservations. Here is a thread.... Rebreather, i said hubby can have one and now i worry - ScubaBoard - Scuba Diving Forums and Social Network |

| Re: Hello from Spouse of Rebreather Diver Hi Spouse :!> I am the girlfriend of a rebreather "guru", I was directed to your message from him, to I guess comfort me since he is now leaving to Cave Country. I too try to be supportive but I also try to stay a step behind because if I start to think of the little things that could happen..... Well, why bother getting up in the morning then... I went to a seminar on rebreathers and it honestly made me feel a bit more comfortable. It's actually pretty safe, you just have to follow some rules. As for that uneasy feeling, become a diver...once you are down there... YOUR WORLD CHANGES........ *Thanks for the tip of the boxers, GREAT IDEA, LOVE the pattern! (HONEY... WORRY....... ) |

| Re: Hello from Spouse of Rebreather Diver Welcome to the board. My wife has also been on a quest for knowledge since I started rebreather diving. She's an open-circuit diver herself (for longer than me actually) so mainly I'm educating her and answering questions about CC diving. My hope is that we'll eventually be a two-rebreather family! The boxers are, well.....something. I like the "all the bubbles are in the boxers and not in the blood" idea. Does that mean they're a viable alternative to hours of deco??? They could really catch on! Cheers, Al.

| Re: Hello from Spouse of Rebreather Diver @ fireman & Steve: Yikes!!! @ almity1: Thank you for sharing. From what I understand, the Meg seems like a very good decision. Here's a link to my husband's final review/decision for choosing a Meg. I have never questioned the technology of rebreathers, nor my husband's skill or (evolving) sense of caution. He's been diving for 20 years, so it is not my place to put any restrictions on him (other than not to whisk away on dive trips to tropical locales in the middle winter and leave me home to take care of our hillside farmhouse in VT alone ). I trust him to dive responsibly. However, he is self-proclaimed adrenline junkie and that it's only a matter of time before he starts pushing his bounds more and more. I don't envision him staying within the "tourist caves" for the rest of his dive career... and trust me, it doesn't help that his dive hero died in a cave.We must all follow our own bliss in life, no matter what it is or where it may lead you, but I do get a little fearful when I think of what the future might hold. |
