But now residing in the lovely Pacific Northwest. Anyway, welcome to Rebreather World. If you have a chance, attend one of the Rebreather try out sessions that are offered once in a while. That sure helps with the decision making. Again, welcome on board! RBN

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Hello From New Bern, NC You'll find lots of good opinions here. While you're reading the posts you might get out and kick some tires, so to speak. The suggestion of finding a Rebreather Day, where you can try out different RBs in the water, makes a lot of sense. I know Pete Nawrocky (757-426-9708) will be holding many Optima try-out days at Lake Rawlings this summer. Also, since you're in New Bern, why not go down to the Olympus docks in August and talk to all the Rebreather divers that will be on the trip posted in Rebreather World under North Carolina Rebreather Trip. We've got a few Rebreather divers in the Virginia Beach area (VA). You just missed our RB Day in February. Still, you could come up and dive with us and see a Meg, Optima, and Hammerhead. Our group, VBTech (checkout our website), is doing both ocean and cave stuff that you might like to participate in. We've also got a member in Raleigh who occasionally comes to meetings that you could ride with. You could always get on our email list and keep up with what's going on in your area. It's a shame that you are missing Beneath the Sea this weekend in NJ. It's a great show with all of the Rebreather vendors. You might put that on your calendar for next year. It would be helpful if you could tell us what kind of diving you are planning to do with your rebreather. Warm or cold water, recreational type dives or long and deep ones, short cave runs or multiple hour penetrations, etc. Each rebreather has some features that might be better for the type of diving you are thinking about doing than say another would offer, so giving us some parameters would be helpful. It's sorta like asking us to tell you what is the ideal woman -- Big operational difference in one with red hair vs black. So, post some insights about you and the type of diving you want to do. Anyway, we're got some technical dives thru Lynnhaven Dive Center this season -- 160 to 260 fsw range -- that may be of interest to you. There will be one or two RBs on each of those dives for you to see. Hope to see you there. Bill |

![]() | Ok, Stupid question time. Can I get some recomendations from the old hats..... SCR's seem to be plentiful and less expensive to start with. Is this a good place start, to learn the in's and out of rebreathers? Then progress to CCr's after a time or....... should I start with something, I know that I am going to end up with..... My interest is extended range wreck diving so I know that a recreational rebreather will not fit my needs for long. I like the concept of an upgradeable MCCR like rEvo or COPIS but I dont want to get over my head since I am new. I know you get these questions all the time, so thanks for your tolerance. |

As you already know scr are limited in practical use. I went with the classic kiss great unit. Simple, reliable, & an easy transition from OC. If I was in your shoes now the rEvo would be at the top of the list. (Slimmer, better scrubber setup, better o2 meters & has a HUD) You can "upgrade" to eccr later if you want without too much pain. Get in touch with Dave Sutton on here. He has dove most units & eviscerated almost as many. Can I get some recomendations from the old hats.....
