![]() ![]() | A new world opening up..... Hello, everyone! I just signed up as a member today after having this board recommended to me by a friend. Last week at DEMA I ordered my Meg from Leon and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it! Like I said in my thread title I feel like an entire new world is opening up for me and I'm excited as Hell about it! A bit about me: I started diving WAY back in 1976 and took up underwater photography shortly thereafter using a Nikonos II and a Nikon flash-bulb rig. I now dive with either a Nikon D-70 or D-100 with Aquatica Housings and use Ikelite DS-125 strobes. The diving bug bit me well and proper years years ago and I have spent much of my time underwater ever since. Over the years I have gone through a lot of training up to and including Advanced Trimix, but in the past few years I have been sniffing around rebreathers just waiting to make the jump. It's time, don't you think? Foe the past four years or so I have worked for/with Curt Bowen as a Staff Writer and Photographer for Advanced Diver Magazine, so some of you may have seen my work there. Darn near everyone on the staff has a Rebreather of some kind and they have all been encouraging me to follow suit. I look forward to reading your posts and learning as much as I can. After all these years it's going to be interesting being a complete novice all over again. Best regards to you all! John Rawlings |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | John, Welcome to Rebreather World!! In short order, this board has become the premier resource for rebreather divers, and those wishing to come to the "Dark Side" of diving. Working with Curt has, I'm sure, given you plenty of chances to see the Rebreather in action, and to know what advantages it has, especially for UW photographers. We are glad to have you on-board, and are looking forward to a good account of your training adventures, as well as some photo's! Cheers! Rob Davie

![]() | Re: A new world opening up..... John, Excellent contributions to ADM over the past years. I too have finally made the decision to cross over to the Dark Side with my order of the Optima. Can't wait for the extended bottom times, comfort, silence, decreased deco penalty, and overall decrease in topside weight with CCR! Good luck with your unit and training! Chris Dress |
