| Re: Megaladon Versus Optima Fx I am just saying this - enough about the scrubber, lets get to the many other reasons that an Optima is superior. Optima owners tend to be better looking folk i noticed too!About the vibrating HUD - It is not nearly as noticeable at depth - not that I would have any experience with not monitoring for this to happen . OK, maybe once ![]() ![]()

Ok, well while you are typing that up...I didnt read through all this thread so if this is repetitious, may the internet gods be forgiving... Taking the scrubber out of the equation... There are things I like about the Optima and things I like about the Meg. Let me try and summarize for the OG poster: Things I don't like about the Optima: the bulky case, the frame/structural design, the ADV, the general build quality of it Things I like about the Optima: the electronics, the service (from what I hear) Things I like about the Meg: modularity (tanks, scrubber, etc), better ADV (than Optima), general build quality, service, relatively low profile, the electronics Really the only thing I dont like about the Meg is that you have to take the head off to turn on/off the unit. On the fence about: Meg does not have integrated deco, I think this has its pluses and minuses but thats a whole other thread. FWIW both units use generally easy to get parts which simplifies things over a unit like the Inspiration/Evolution

I hear this a lot from Meg divers, and I am genuinely curious why the ADV is so much better. I just stocked 3 of them on the shelves today, It deosn't seem to be built any better. |

The Optima's has a higher profile than the Meg's, it is harder to reach (at least on the units I've seen), and because of the design is more likely to freeflow. Yes I know it has a shutoff. I'm not saying the Meg's is the best but I do like it much more than the Optima's.

| Re: Megaladon Versus Optima Fx FWIW both units use generally easy to get parts which simplifies things over a unit like the Inspiration/Evolution Really, check the Diverite Express website.....they carry most all the maintenance parts you would want for the Inspiration. Also, Silent Diving Systems, the NA distributor for AP have a Canadian and NE USA location. Are you sure you know what your talking about? John |

John Thank you for clearing that up. Maybe I should have phrased it: FWIW both units use generally standard parts which simplifies things over a unit like the Inspiration/Evolution. Sorry for the confusion. As an example: A meg or Optima can use any RD22 sensor with a molex connector, and Inspiration you need to order from an Inspiration dealer the sensor with the special connector.

When I was actively selling the Inspiration, I stocked all the common parts.. I also know several other stores that did the same.. and for the ones that werent stocked, there was always Fed-Ex.. I still normally have at least 1 of each specialty part like the OPV, manual add ect... for when I teach.. I never stocked an ADV because its not a necessary item.. In a pinch I could throw on a standard t-piece..

My Inspiration Classic takes the standard R22D with Molex. If you only want to buy the R22D sensor with the coax connector from AP you can but you can also buy them elsewhere...AP would like you to only buy the sensors from them. See the diverite express web like. They also sell them. Strike Two! Better to quit while your behind. Oxygen Sensors for Diving John |

My point, which you clearly missed, was about the flexibility and interchangeability of parts. Argue and plug DR Express all you want, the fact is the Inspiration/AP units fall behind in this category. If you only want to buy the R22D sensor with the coax connector from AP you can but you can also buy them elsewhere...AP would like you to only buy the sensors from them.
