The controller used has such interesting features, it would be a shame to use it only as a security system triggered by low O2 in the loop. For me, it's more like the best of both world: I will be flying the unit manually most of the time and can change to eCCR when there is a heavy work load (current, very low vis, scootering, etc...). For very deep dives, the ability to blank the orifice and work as a pure eCCR is really a plus. Anyway, now that I sold my machine, I have to order a new one and save some money to get the Shearwater.
