Hello from Belgium!

Hello this is my first post on Rebreather World.
I’m diving OC since 1992.
I have decided to do the step to the rebreather world. On this moment I’m thinking between the Inspiration Vision or the rEvo. In march 2008 comes the rEvo hybrid eCCR with the Shearwater pursuit electronics.
Last week I did a try dive with a rEvo and this week I gone do a try dive with an Inspiration Vision from a friend.
Before the end of 2007…I order a unit. But which?
All input is welcome.
Greetings
Frank

Re: Hello from Belgium!

You are the only person that can decide this. Just remember to take into account:
1 - availability of training in your area
2 - availability of parts and service in your area
3 - the comfort level that the unit gives you, confidence in your equipment is nice for peace of mind
4 - make sure that the unit is suitable for the type of diving that you intend to do.

Re: Hello from Belgium!

well i never really considered an inspo as a possibility , mccr made too much sense to me. although lately the parachute electronic concept seems more and more reasonable.

i will say this on a rEvo you dont need to worry too much about parts, theres really nothing to break.

good luck and safe diving,

Re: Hello from Belgium!

Hey Frank,

difficult choice. There are plenty of Inspiration divers in Belgium but since it is also the home of the rEvo, that community will grow as well.

I went for the Vision because the combination of filming and mCCR is in my opinion too dangerous. Filming creates just too much distraction from manually running your PPO2.

Some tips:
Consider what your buddies dive with
Support issues - probably none with either of the units. rEvo is local support and APD provides excellent support in Belgium.
eCCR vs mCCR - depends on the diving you do and your personal take on the reliability of electronics in life support equipment
OTS lungs vs back mounted - OTS breathes better, with BMCS you have a clutter free chest.
...

BTW - If you want to go for the Vision, give Steven Galicia a call (Exploring New Depths). He is an excellent instructor.

Re: Hello from Belgium!

Hello,

I have made my decision and I ordered today a rEvo hybrid eCCR with the Shearwater Pursuit controller.
At the end of January 2008 I’ll be a proud owner of a rEvo and begin 2008 my course will start.

Congrats,

I promise you that time will fly by, and if you look back in 12 months time, you be wondering why you were having so much doubt and questions
