Re: New member introduction

Thanks for all the welcomes guys!

kybrt, I worked in the monitoring laboratory on Johnston Island. JI was the site of a chemical agent disposal facailty, incinerating stockpiles of mustard gas and and the nerve gases sarin and VX. In fact it was the first fully functional facility (it is now closed, but there are others currently operational in the US) due to its location in the path of the trade winds, which allowed the plant to be situated downwind of the residential areas. Monitoring stations that collected air samples were situated at multiple locations around the plant, and the laboratory analyzed these samples to detect any release of agent.

And yes, we had to carry a gas mask with us at all times when we were in the plant.

Re: New member introduction

Thanks Marv!

I previously had a Sony TRV 900 in an Amphibico housing. It is the only other housing I have experience with. With the Seatools I have never had trouble using the controls, even with gloves on, but I have little hands. I have liked it very much, it'll go to 330 feet (I have taken it to 310), and it's small enough to clip off. Here is a link to a picture that sfldiver took of me on our recent ScubaTyme trip where I have clipped it:

And there is a picture here of me holding it at this link:

Because it's small and neutral in the water I do get some 'camera shake' but I find I can usually get most of that out with Final Cut.

I chose the Seatools housing because it suited the kind of diving I do: some shallow recreational, some deep technical, sometimes in current, sometimes with difficult entries and exits.

Hope this helps.
