New Irish Midlands Rebreather Diver

Hello,

I have been diving 10years, 800+ dives, member of Athlone Sub Aqua Club which uses the CMAS system. I am an M2 instructor and IANTD Full OC Trimix Diver, did that with John Thorthon in Scapa a few year ago. Just got an Inspiration Vision rebreather, it arrived yesterday week, thanks to Barrie Law who helped me out(Divertec Ltd) . I did the Mod 1 course last wknd and was comfortable with the unit so brought it on a trip to Oban in Scotland during the week. Dived the Breda, Thesis, Rondo, Shuna and the Hispania. Enjoyed the trip which was well run by Richard who runs Aquaholics Dive Centre from Ballycastle, Northern Ireland(Scuba Diving Equipment - Dive Club in Ireland - Aquaholics). Enjoy diving wrecks, especially subs and with sharks. I know feck all about rebreathers and hope to change that by reading the forums and clocking up the hours. I intend doing the Mod 2 and 3 early next year and doing a lot of trips to Malin in Ireland to dive deep wrecks with Geoff (www.divenorth.com).
There were no rebreather divers in the midlands until six months ago, now there are five of us, hopefully more will follow.

Rgds

Hi Ger,

Welcome to the Rebreather World Forum and for your introduction I feel you may have raised the bar a bit on the usual 'Hi Guys, my name is' type intro's.

Good to hear your OBAN trip went well.

People in Co. Westmeath buying rebreathers?
Whatever next?
Before we know it they'll be hanging big, bright pink, fluffy, novelty dice in their tractor windows.

Best of luck with Vision.

Re: New Irish Midlands Rebreather Diver

Welcome Ger,
I'm not too far from you, based in Meath. Hope I get as good weather for my Scapa trip in September!
Best of luck with the unit - I went for the old fashioned clockwork one myself (Inspo Classic)....
