| Custom Title Allowed! Current Rebreather/s: | Long overdue After a few months of lurking, a few silly questions and some back and forth, I believe it's about time I introduce myself. I am Erik, 34 and I live in Boston. Born and raised in France I was always drawn by the world "Beyond the mask" (incidentally the name of a documentary series my father shot in the 60s). I started to dive five years ago mostly in warm Caribbean and Indian ocean waters. I recently bought a dry suit and started to dive around Boston, which I surprisingly like quite a bit. My dive buddy introduced me to the silent world of rebreathers, he'll be jealous to see I bought a rebreather when he gets back his honeymoon. I hope he follows my path soon. After going back and forth for a couple of months, I finally opted for an O2ptima (I had really looked into the Evolution as well and considered the Meg and Revo II) on which I will get trained by Mark in a couple of weeks in Florida (is it warm there in August or should I bring a sweater ?). I currently am finishing a PADI DM and TDI deco course and have just completed a TDI Adv Nitrox class. With 76 dives only, I look forward to diving a lot more, here in Boston and around the world. With a rebreather, I'll have to learn to be anal and not just prudent. I really look forward to the training and thank you for accompanying me on my journey thus far. |

(Don't forget to change your profile to show that you own one instead of "haven't bought yet.) It will be hot here in August, above 90 in the air during the day (maybe 95+), and about 80 at night. The water will be about 85 on the surface, and about 80 or so at depth. We do get cooler water upwelling at about 70 feet of depth, and this can be down to as low as 63 degrees though typically it will be more like 73 or so. We might be on your dive boat, on a SCRUB dive, when you are on a training dive. So, we might just get the chance to see you in action while you are here. Enjoy your Optima. |
