Wave and curent action can create a rippled sand effect at many depths. Is seeing it at 100m any better than 10m? Going deep should be for a better reason than going deep. The Doria is a good reason for going deep, my most recent deep dive was to a wreck I have wanted to do for about 2 years and was well worth the training and cost.

There are a couple of divers I know who go deep for the sake of it, often on air. Why bother? Trimix mean you can rememer the dive and are safer, hitting 63m on air is a bit silly.

If your interest is on seeing ice age formations then that is a perfectly good reason for going deep, and there are many rebreathers that will let you get there, but 266m is a bit beyond a Dolph...
We are thinking alike. Going deep just to go deep is no more interesting to me then floating on the water watching divers at 10m play. And in my years as an OC diver, I have had several dives where I would have loved to stay longer or gone deeper but have been unable to do either. Nitrox gave me a little more time, but at the cost of loosing some depth. So it seams that Trimix is the best way to go. And trimix in an Insperation or Megaldon is probably the best of all.
My Dolphin will not make it the Doria or most other places that I have an interest in seeing. Therefore the CCRs I mentioned. Now, onwards and into training and the purchase of a CCR.

Cheers -
Charles

You don't need to go to 300 feet to see sixgills around here. You can shore dive in Seattle city limits and see them in less than 100 feet.

There are areas in BC where they are shallow as well. So the Dolphin is a good tool for sixgill sighting, since you can hang out longer than on open circuit.
I bought the Dolphin to increase my bottom time. I knew upfront that it had depth limits. I also knew that I would not be entirely happy with the depth limits. Then, I came across an article in SmartGroups which talked and taught me much about using one mix of gas in a different jet in my Dolphin (say 40% in 60% jet). And BOOM! I now have almost 120 minutes of gas at any depth. However, I still have a depth limit no mater what Nitrox blend I use. If I should have to hit the demand valve, things could get far away from interesting in a hurry.

That's how I use mine, I've been looking at SCR trimix and it seems workable, now I just need to put theory into practice!
