| CK 69+Shearwater Pursuit Current Rebreather/s: | A new kiss! Right, after much lurking about, both here and on YD, I've finally taken the plunge, and arranged a Rebreather and posted an introduction, all in the same day! I've been diving for about 10 years, on and off, though most of my dives have been in the last one and a half years. I'm a mature university student (apparently), being 25, and am studying at Newcastle University, where I'm currently the chairman of the Uni diving club, NUSAC - BSAC 9155. After fancying rebreathers for quite a while, both for the technical and silence aspect, I've finally taken the plunge and sent off a generous cheque to Deep Blue dive. I'm getting my hands on a Classic Kiss and doing MOD1 on the 30th of July, followed by a 24 hour gap then doing a Scapa and the Northern Isles trip on a liveaboard on the 4th->10th Aug, hopefully with the KISS, assuming I passed ![]() Look forward to chatting! | CK 69+Shearwater Pursuit Current Rebreather/s: | Re: A new kiss! Thanks for the kind words of welcome, everyone! Looking forward to meeting you on the Scapa trip, Jo! Hopefully I won't do anything numpty-ish while I'm there! As for rebreathers in NUSAC, yeah, it's a bit of a change really, I guess. The safety policy is currently being amended so it doesn't forbid rebreathers (why it ever did in the first place is a bit beyond me - I don't understand why it didnt just say "If BSAC allows it, it's OK with us".. Unfortunately, before I decided to go CC, I was the club's only twinset diver too I'm hoping to sell my twins to the DO, so that I'll at least have someone to go on longer dives with! And no, I'm not that David Pye - assuming you mean the chap that does all sorts of things, he's the one that always shows up when you google my name ![]() David |

| Born Again Diver! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: A new kiss! NUSAC used to have plenty of twinset divers. We Even created an agency and course for it IATPD (Institute of Adavnced Technical Pond Divers) You could walk across Ellerton and Cawfield on the twins stickign out of the water! The last time we updated the safety policy, it was directly based one the BSAC SDPs and I don't think rebreathers were at all common at that point. All good though, good luck with the Kiss. Dave |

![]() | Re: A new kiss! Congratulations from NZ! Maybe you'll find the time one to come down here and dive our pristine and by your standards, tropical waters. There are only a couple or three of KISS divers down here and I don't know the other one - one day maybe. Mind you Scapa sounds like fun - even if it brass monkey diving. Let us know how you get on. |
