| PRISM DIVER & LUVIN IT! Current Rebreather/s: | Hi group, I have been posting for a while, I was supposed to have purchased a Meg back in the begining of the year and do to personal reasons had to move back to Oct. Well I was very fortunate in coming across a used PRISM at a very reasonable price. So I have made the move. I am now the official owner of a PRISM TOPAZ. I will be starting my instruction ASAP. I would like to thank all the members of this forum, you guys and girls all made a lot of valuble info very avalable (I know my spelling is horrible) it has really lifted a lot of the what ifs you experence when you start to consider a ccr. It has also given me the oppurtunity to cyber dive the dark side while waiting for my kit. Thank you all and g-d blessMartin ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hello Chris, I think you maybe right. Luckily, I have a very flexable schedule and no children. It's so lonely at the top...he he he. It looks like I will be back on the Golden Dawn from July 7- 30 next year. It would be great if any of you guys were to join me. Otherwise I will wear Capt Craig right out. The boat is going from Manus through the Admiraltys for 7 days then from Manus to Wewak via Hermitts/Ninigos atolls for 14 days. Should be spectacular, lots of virgin sites, big shark action and a few wrecks near Wewak. There is also an all CCR WW2 wreck charter on GD in May for 7 days. Unfortunately for me, I've already dived most of them. But it will be a great trip for the uninitiated. If anybody is game to join me in Alona Beach Philippines from Sept. 20-30 they are welcome. It seems to have some of the better all around diving in the PH. As of now, it will be just me and the YBOD diving house instructor in a boat all by ourselves, no bottom time limits. And it's still going to be the cheapest CCR diving I've ever done. Yeehaw!-Andy |

Always looking for new recommendations. Any particular dive outfit you use? Please add it to destinations.Andy

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Andy M, my name's Andy too! And we both dive CCR, what are the odds? My choices are usually limited by the long arm of the YBOD and it's attendant 'friendly' dive opps. But this time I found out about Alona Beach Sea Explorers by doing a tech/rebrearther search of the Philippines, which is located in the central Visayas near Cebu. Only a few CCR friendly facilities came up. As for the rest of the choice, everyone I talked to seemed to indicate that PG was tech friendly but not good for bigger stuff. So after a lot of reading, I decided on Alona which has less visitors and more regular sightings of Pelagics and Sharks and not surprisingly, less population than PG. I have found that the population density of a place is the most consistant indicator of the quality of diving-always go with the more rural of the choices if you want to see a good overall range of fish. Come on down, the ticket can't be much more than the Red Sea and it will be more hospitable.-Andy |
