Hi

Hi, I've been playing with my Submatix ST100 SCR for the last six months and whilst happy would like to 'close it' or perhaps look at Mini Meg / sport Kiss. Got the Rebreather Bug Bad!! Need an new bank manager, know any that dive??
P.S Any UK instructors for the Mini Meg?

Jon,
What sort of PPO2 monitoring do you already use on the Submatix? or do you not use any at all?
Depending on the age of your Submatix, I believe the current version already has the mounts in the head for 3 cells.
As long as you understand how a CCR works, closing a Submatix up so it works like a KISS is not difficult at all .
Andy at Abyss should be able to put you in touch with some people who have already closed up their Submatix SCR's

HTH

The Mini Meg is the same as the regular Megalodon with a shorter cannister and hence shorter duration and reduced depth rating. Any meg instructor will be able to train you, and in the UK 'Decodiver' can help you out. You can contact him through his profile.

Hi Simon
Homebuild eh! I tend to find that you guys know what your talking about on the basis that if you did'nt, well we won't go there!

I know of one guy who is in touch with me who has closed his unit but I'm having trouble finding anyone actually diving their units. To close is one thing, to dive seems to be another! Hence looking at at all options. Thanks for he info though.

Jon,
once I've finished configuring my home builtso I'm comfy with it, and I've mastered the comedy bouancy, your welcome to have a look as the Submatix will close up using exactly the same principals.
Or try and look at a KISS or SportKISS, The O2 valves are available from Jetsam, then all you need is PPO2 monitoring that your happy with.
Also AFAIK the manufacturer of the Submatix has actualy developed a kit that turns it into a ccr, but due to costs it hasn't been through CE testing, and is therefore not available. Nick at abyss should be able to confirm or deny this rumor.

Afaik Reikimaster is at uni in reading, I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting him yet.
However once I've finished Deco procedures (Hopefully my last ever OC course) next week I'll be looking for local buddies to do some more shallow diving on the home built (grand total of 40 min in Wraysbury so far! now I'm working on putting the drive tanks on my back), hopefully with a few more hours, I'll nail the comedy bouyancy.

Any more people from round Reading and we'll have to have a talk and beer night! (or we could just say sod it and do it anyway)

Simon A

====edit====
oops I've just noticed you don't dive (yet!), got any plans to rectify that? ( rumour has it, that there are a couple of instructors out there who are just itching for the chance to teach someone to dive from scratch on a rebreather!)
