![]() | Hello From South East Texas Hello Everyone, Its nice to see all this rebreather info on one site. I have been interested in rebreathers for over 10 years now. However I still haven't used or owned one. I have been blowing bubbles since 1990. I am interested in all types of self contained life support systems from space to underwater. I hope to build a rebreather one day. I just don't have the time money or tooling. I have been a machinist for 13 years. So the manufacturing of parts would not be a problem. I would like to find another Rebreather diver in my area but Tech & RB are not popular here. I will post more in the future.Dennis |

See, you put a post out there, and a bunch of divers from Texas say hello and after all it seems some of them are not even that far from you. There are also plenty of folks on the board here who have built their own rigs, so keep those questions coming. Again, welcome on board. RBN ![]()

![]() | Re: Hello From South East Texas Hello All, Thank you all for the warm greetings. As I have said I don't have a RD yet. I have never used one either. I do understand how they work. I was going to try to build one. I plan on going slow. First a manual O2. Then I will add an O2 sensor. My main problem is finding hoses that are not going to break the bank. I have been a machinist for 13 years and have access to a lathe. When I do get it built I plan on finding someone that can look it over before it ever goes in the water. I plan on asking allot of questions. Thanks again, Dennis |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Hello From South East Texas Dennis Hello from the homebuilders: with a 1400$ dollars we can kiss oriface any Russian rig out there, including electronics and purchase. Just ask Dave. If you truly want to build your own from scratch then plan on about 2000$ including screw ups and a bucket full of parts, that don't fit anything. Your definition of safety will be your budget limiter. russian unit about 750 with shipping, see dave for the best ones. din regs and tanks about 600 ebay adapter fittings and hoses 250$ aftermarket dsv 250$ the russian one sucks kiss style home build electronics 250$ so say 2200$ for a home build russian unit my own homebuilt bp 240 purchase 650$ bov 700$ fitting and hoses 300$ tanks and regs 600$ wing and backplate 400$ backplate adapter 200$ extra mav 125$ electronics 300$ sensors 210$ so as you see i have three thousand dollars in a home built. it equates to most 8000 to 10000 dollars units that are out there so you might say that i saved 5000 $ but did i, i can not take it on vacation. i can only dive it of private boats. And i can not get certified on it. Go work the overtime and buy a used kiss, get your ticket on it. And then play with it. rick |
